I need to blow off some steam... Paypal have got to be the worst payment processing company online, and they have a complete monopoly within their market.

I cant believe how they keep their house in order, its a shambles. A good few years ago, when the xBox 360 first came out, I made an absolute killing reselling them on eBay. After pumping about 25k through my account they hit me with a limitation, I bent over backwards for them, spent hours on the phone on hold. Provided enough documentation to create a second identity and they they had the audacity to "part ways in a manner that is least disruptive to my business" - Which ment that they reversed the most recent payments into my bank and froze my balance for 180 days. Which ment that they were sitting on around $8000 of my money for 180 days.

When this happened I just took it with a pinch of salt and made another account in my brothers name and things were fine.

Now, over 7 years later, they pull the same shit...

They have frozen my account, which wasnt so bad because i can easily provide the information that they need. However they told me it could take 14 days to resolve... This was 16 days ago...

In that time I started using a friends account as a temp solution and what do you know... They froze his account, locked it up. Closed his options to use the account for anything and are holding almost $5000 of the money for 180 days. Obviously this raised a concern for me, so I call them up 5 days ago to see what was going on, after spending an hour on hold without even speaking to an operator, I got pissed off and ended the call.

So I went to Hong Kong for the weekend, fully expecting to return to an email from paypal that would either say "your account access is restored" or "fuck you, were keeping your money for 180" - To my complete dismay, they had not even sent me an email. Even though 16 days had passed since they limited my account.

So I get on the dog and bone and give them a call... What do ya know, Im on hold for almost an hour again without even getting passed to an operator. Seriously, who the hell runs a business like this? Leaving customers on hold for an hour is an outrage.

Now am back to waiting for a response from them via email... Which is looking bleak to say the least.

So without further a do, I would like to say a huge F-You to paypal and I would like nothing more than to see your corrupt bullshit business model come crumbling down around you.

Rant on, man. Rant on. They connected my account to my friends account whose account was connected to his moms who screwed ebay over like 8 years ago. So according to them, I owe them that balance. Which they wouldnt tell me, because I had to login to the account that wasnt mine to find out. I use my girlfriends now, but man did those call center reps get tore apart for about a week.

Sad man as this happened to me for over $5k.

But if you're offering a business online, Paypal is a must.

    Some small degree of satisfaction...

Im considering sending them a singing telegram to inform them of how shit they are. Tell the singing telegram company that I will pay them in full upon them uploading a video to youtube of them stood outside the paypal headquarters delivering the singing telegram.

    What do you think?

Paypal sucks balls in the customer service area. I've been fighting them for 6 months over a chargeback they allowed. They said they fought it,but it's complete BS.

I sold a domain on flippa, and 4 months later the buyer filed a chargeback citing the domain was "not as described".....it's an f'ing domain name....can't be ANYTHING other than what it's described as. I have done close to $50,000 in sales with them over the last 3 years, paying god knows how much in fees. They sent me to collections over a $900 chargeback, and their position is always "we are a payment processor, we aren't responsible for actions by a credit card company" which is horseshit, chargebacks aren't automatically won, they just don't want to fight the claim, so they let them through. Happens all the time.

I too have lost countless hours on hold with them while resolving nothing.

    PayPal sux, period.

I've never heard of so many different people having such huge problems with PayPal before I started paying attention to forums such as this. There doesn't appear (on the surface, anyway) to be a reasonable common denominator, either.

I'm wondering if it might not have something to do with you guys (those of you having experienced problems) not being incorporated or DBA'd, thereby some unique scrutiny being placed on your accounts, regardless of whether or not they are PayPal "Business" accounts?

OP, sorry to hear about your experience man. That's no fun to get dicked over by the biggest payment processor...but it seems to be a recurring trend. That's why I never keep much money in my Paypal..thanks BHW for helping me prevent it before it actually happens!

I had some problems a few years back when I was selling Wii's online when they were hard to find in the UK. Money frozen, no contact number to resolve problems etc...total pain in the arse, then when I did get through to someone they asked me to Fax information through...With this being the 21st Century I asked if I could email...they said no, fax only!

They treat you like a criminal whilst holding onto your money, and have the balls to base themselves in Ireland and Luxembourg so they avoid paying taxes on profits!

They're also exploiting some loophole which means you can't even report them to any financial regulator when they rip you off.

Paypal is a horrible company, and its a little bit surprising that they manage to get away with everything that they do. They essentially have set up their business in such a way that part of their profits are derived from scamming their own clients.

They are known to freeze funds all the time, and pocket it. If they actually had to pay out all of the money that they owe, I'm not sure they would be profitable.
