My PayPal account was suspended on 20th November 2018. For reasons still unknown to me but that's another issue all together.

When can I access my £270 of mine they have "on hold". It's been ages now..

I have a negative balance of £40 but it won't let me transfer any money into the account since it was suspended...

Its usually 180 days from the date the account limitation was placed. Have you contacted PP supoport?

If the details on the account are yours then just give em a call and ask what they want from you. I have had a couple of holds put on the account and always had it cleared up that day by sending in my details.

Obviously that all depends on if the details of your account are genuine.

They typically release your money in 6 months.

I had this happen years ago. I got my congressman involved and BBB. The funds were released back to me within 2-3 weeks.

The funds can only be on hold, if it's a limitation. If the account is suspended, the money is practically gone. When they limit you, they send you an email with the tenure of the limitation (which is usually 180 days) and you can find hints within the account about removing the limitation. But if your account is not limited, but suspended, that's a big difference.

They say its because of charge-backs for credit card payments, but they are lying bastards. I sold a load of stuff on eBay once and I was put on hold for a 25 year old film camera ! Over £500 in the account, all the items where recorded delivery all the buyers gave good feedback my paypay account was 3 years old.
Its a scam.. think about it. How many times have you seen people complain about their money being put on hold for 6 months, I've seen tons over the years.
Imagine they hold 5,000 accounts every 6 months with and average of £300 in them, that's £3 million a year they can lend PayPal users ...and it's a liquid asset - in other words it never leaves their balance sheet.
Then charge 14% interest plus setup fees, that's well over £42000 interest + fees I'd say all in all its not shy of half a million quid from money that never belonged to them.

I see where you are coming from but considering how much money Paypal already earn from their customers they likely wouldn't notice this amount on their books. Also if they were to ever get caught with such a policy it could take down the company entirely.

Look at this quote below about Paypal from 2010:
Paypal aren't going to throw that away for a few measly millions a year, it would be suicidal.

I believe they release the account after 6 months, so that time should have passed already. Have you tried contacting PayPal support? Maybe they have hoops you need to jump through before accessing the funds.
