I was reading the paypal TOS and it now states they are putting 21 day holds
on NON-EBAY transactions for NEW SELLERS.

Has this happened to ANY1?

I just set up a new account on ebay and paypal. I am getting the hold for sales UNDER $2.00 on eBay and (SO FRICKIN RIDICULOUS). Just wanted to see if any1 has had hold on non-ebay transactions for being new seller

How strict are they going to get?

ALSO in case paypal is really doing this HOLD for off ebay transactions,
I need to just set up a merchant account.

any suggestions on cheapest (trustable) combined merchant account - payment processors (gateway)

That's fuckin retarded. What reason is there for new people to use PayPal anymore? In fact, I think you can get a merchant account, make a sale, and get paid faster than it would take to do it through PayPal.

for "NEW SELLERS"

Too many people abused certain parts of it and this is what happened :(

When you sell at eb ay you get automatic traffic
diffrent when you have your own online store

anyway to OP you need to add tracking number just put any and contact them . geezz 2$

That's just CrapPal...so good I have a Premier account for some time. I think it's about time that sellers start boycotting this excuse for a solid payment processor...

yes the hold is ridiculous. AND I just learned google puts a 2 week hold on payments for new accounts for the first 60 days.

I am currently review merchant accounts. Any suggestions o inexpensive merchant accounts - not the 'digital download' accounts like fastspring. account where i can sell physical product, services, etc.

Until now I never had any hold.
But in any case paypal acts very unprofessional, they side with scammers and regularly steal your money..
Sooner or later a merchant account is the only solution I think.

Or maybe a service like primus, but I did not check them in detail yet.

I get holds on any item now... I thought it was due to large amounts I was getting... but its for riskier accounts (if that makes any sense) depends on what your selling but $2 thats an lol moment!

Where does it say that in their TOS? Can you quote it?

I went through the TOS twice and didn't see any holds mentioned about non ebay items

Found this though http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/9gbvf/paypal_wants_to_hold_its_merchants_money_for_90/

When logged in and reading checking my ebay payment hold status I can click on a button that says 'learn more about paypal holds'.

There's a long winded expl. about holds on payments for 'security reasons' to esnure good transactions - which doesnt state a definite time period or anything.

It also doesnt say the holds are specific to ebay. It simply says paypal may put a hold on your transactions.

Then it goes on to say the following: PLEASE NOTE the statement IMPLIES there are certain rules for ebay ralated holds - WHICH of course SUGGESTS non- ebay payments may get holds as well.

When does PayPal release payment holds?

Payments will be held in a pending balance for a certain time period. For example, if you receive a $100 payment (after fees), the $100 will be held in a pending balance for that amount of time. After then, the money will be available for withdrawal.
The money may be released sooner if:

  1. We can confirm that the item was delivered
  2. Your buyer leaves positive feedback. (Applies only to eBay items.)
To get access to this money more quickly, please process this order right away and communicate with your customers early and often.

SECRETHQ1 - how old is your account? how many transactions have you had?

I am assuming at this point that I will get holds on non-ebay transactions as well. Do you have any idea how old the account has to be or how many 'good transactions' one has to have b4 paypal trusts some1????

Hold for $2.00 for 21 days,This is unusual one...First time am hearing about that....Really BAD....

paypal is indeed the worst thing ever. if i could recommend, setup a CCBILL or verotel account, taht way you can accept credit card payments right at your website!

I have hated paypal for years, I seriously wish ill will on the sadistic assholes that run that company, they act like they are the fucking world police, its like if hitler owned an internet payment service

Actually it also applies to ebay sales as well, my items i sold on ebay ranges from $89-210, and %90 of the payment i received was held, though paypal will say 21 days, but i don't think its really up to that, i normally just add a tracking number and leave it at that, so when no buyer complains after couple of days, paypal release the fund.
Ive had my paypal acct for a lil over a yr, same for my ebay account, but am a new seller on ebay with only 1 feedback, so i contacted paypal, and they said its bcoz am selling on ebay for the first time and that it's for security purpose, but once no buyer complains, the funds can be released sooner.
But yea, it sucks, and i never had a hold on all the $$$ i got paid into my paypal via craigslist.
