I know that no matter how much you make, (to a degree) you have to file for taxes. My question is, in the state of FL, how much do you actually have to MAKE for that year in order to have to PAY taxes.

I believe Florida has no state income tax... you will still be responsible for federal taxes though for sure no matter where you live in the world if you are a US citezen...

If youre referring to sales tax, $0. You must file sales & use tax if you have a license. The State loves to burn you with false charges and penalties if you dont do this. A couple of years ago I had them trying to get $48,000 for a business I never sold a dime out of...It turned out to be linked to bunch of fraudulent taxes the State of FL and every other State/Fed Govt is charging people. So file taxes, and then figure out how to get your money out of Govt sight (thats the tricky part :-D)

I know that. I guess I should say this: If I made 6k last year, how much should I expect to pay total tax-wise?

Honestly none of us are accountants and the best advice to you is to get someone that has expertise in this field such as an accountant. Hope I didn't come off harsh but with matters involving taxes its an individual matter of how much your going to make if your a sole proprietor, LLC, Corp, deductions, dependents your claiming, charity, tax write offs, etc.

Seriously, asking questions like this, and legal questions, is akin to asking "My spleen just ruptured and what do I do now?!"

Might you find someone that can help? Sure. But chances are your answer will always be "Consult a professional."

You should expect to pay 6-7% depending on the county. Whatever your sales tax is when you buy things at stores...
