Over the past few weeks, I've heard of people talking about exact match domains and how their effectiveness has been lowered by the Panda and the Panda updates to come. Is this true? Proofs?

When it comes to my searches, EMD sites are still in the page 1 but they are not really dominating because some EMD sites (different extensions) are in page 2/3 which I greatly contribute to the different SEO plans. However, I am really curious about this because I want to push a site which doesn't have the keyword and I want to save myself all the trouble if I can't let it rank against EMDs.

I'm not really a fan of EMDs because they seem to be generic sites which does not really have a brand name (in my opinion only) but I don't mind getting one if it will bring me money.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

I've had reasonable success with both.

I think it all depends on the niche and keywords involved and if you're able to bring some value with the site.

If someone puts up garbage sites, then EMD may help them a bit but it's not going to allow them to out rank something that has many other factors in its favor.

Tried fighting them against each other? EMD vs non-EMD on the same KW/niche?

They work. I put up 4 articles on an EMD about 7 months ago and didn't touch it. I'm now on the first page in a medium niche... doing nothing to the site for the last 7 months.

Well, my experience is they work, but not anything significant.

I have 2 non-EMDs, ranked with some offpage SEO. But before linkbuilding, (it was indexed), it didn't get ranked in Top 100.
All my EMDs start in top 100 and then fall down over time

I'm pretty sure they work but as for putting them against a non-EMD who is doing the same thing, having the same meta description and meta title PLUS the same linkbuilding strategies. Would the disparity be too big to a point that EMD is always a must?
