    Hi.

I have recently been looking around on all the different link directories there are out there. Some of them can can give one quite high PR backlinks for only a few $.
I know that this "form" of link building is rather old school, but is it any good, or would it harm my rankings if I bought some?

    Thanks in advance.

Paid links are naturally good and even better when it's niche targeted.

Yes. That is one of the problems. These directories are generally very wide and serve everything from automotive to potty seats.
So it is not in the same niche I suppose, but despite that it won't hurt, is that what you are saying?

As for me It isn't working any more, search engines don't trust such directories, it won't bring you any use...

High pr directories with authority, that have sub-pages for each niche, still pass good value (as long as it isn't nofollow).

It's a good base for new websites, obviously not the $10 listing directories, but if you choose the $50+ directories you tend to get the quality, that aren't overly spammed.
