Hi guys, do you have any experience with paid directory submission and free directory submission. I need to know if the paid opportunity is better, or not.

Usually paid directories have better ranks, but it's always about 40 dollars per submission and that is pretty much I think.

And another question, do you do this?

Thank you for your opinions ;)

I prefer the "No directory submission, build a PBN" option.

I tried directories one time and got nothing in return, better off spending the money on web 2.0s

    Another vote for homemade PBN
if you do it right you can rank pretty heavy keywords

Never seen any results from directory submission, if you're looking for the free ones, don't waste your time. If you're looking for the paid ones, don't waste your money.

Google Maps is way better than any paid directory.

The issue is that you almost need the paid directories to create enough citations to support your google maps listing if you don't have a physical address where your at.

I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for paid directories. They worked great 10-15 years ago, but as people are going to smart phones the paid directory listings don't do crap.

The only thin that did me good is that during the transition to google, a lot of my paid Directory listings went into google initially when they had to buy data to start with a base for google maps.

You'll be surprised, I did some super page listings 12-14 years ago, and some of the fricken numbers are still alive in other directories and even in print in the yellow book.

If a free super page listing went to yellow book, that just tells you how desperate they are for data.
