I see Jon Dykstra recommends pagination of posts for niche's that are image rich. Quick question, if I build a pillar article of content, and paginate it, does it cut down the value of the initial page or are the pages for a post considered content for that particular post.

The reason I ask is I have some good info for pillar articles and they will be pretty long 5-10k words each, I figured paginating them would help with the attention span and making things nice looking and navigational, just wasn't sure if that would hurt the value of the huge authoritative post I want it to be.

    Appreciate any replies.

I think in image rich content these types of buttons for pagination are very logical, familiar, and functional for end-users. I could way off base here, but I believe by moving your article content across multiple pages you can significantly diminish its power and impact and usage as a pillar article.

In authority content threads I'm reading about it seems the major impact point of the pillar article is both its length and placement as the pillar or homepage article. Maybe some stronger SEO pros will weigh in with a more informed opinion. I'm extrapolating from information I've read, but really just getting started on these types of sites myself.

-Chris Lee's RankXL blog, best site to get writing and seo tips
-Gael and Perron's AuthorityHackers blog, all around good stuff
