I've never really cared about Google's PageSpeed Insights before, but because I am targeting a different market now, I think page speed will affect sales. Do you think a better score on the PageSpeed Insight text at https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ directly affects your on site SEO? I know Google uses page speed as a metric to determine rankings, but do they use this same type of test?

Some of the things on the test are stupid, for example, on my mobile test it says the little search icon is too small at 16px x 16px. But I'm not sure if Google knows how mobile devices use the search bar on websites. No one clicks the little icon because most devices have a 'Done' button that does it for them.

Anyway, what's your opinions on this? Should we be anal about our scores?

Yes. When you get the right link juice to crack to the top 5 or 10 I'm pretty sure the rankings start to heavily depend on Pagespeed.
