Had a 2-year-old site ranking for 2 separate pages in the top 4, but then the first fell. Not really sure why, only thing I can think of is that I had stopped aggressively backlinking (though I did do some high PR blog commenting). So, I decided to aggressively backlink again. I bought some high PR links, did this link pyramid: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...lueprint-senuke-amr-bmd-xrumer-scrapebox.html and also did some daily Xrumer blasts. Well, the first page is now completely de-indexed, and the second page fell to page 2, and now has disappeared (though it is still showing up in the index)

What type of penalty is this, considering that the whole site is not de-indexed or penalized, only certain pages? And where the heck do I go from here? Should I continue the Xrumer blasts, so that my backlinking is consistent? Should I consider buying an established domain, do a 301 redirect and send all of the links to that new site?

The thought of putting all this work into a site for all these months and just having to scrap it is not a pleasant one

You just get to the point where you don't know what to believe. You read some people say "don't use Xrumer." Then you hear others say, "when your site drops, ramp up your linkbuilding. After all, if lots of links cause a site to drop, couldn't you just throw a bunch of links at your competitor and they would fall?"

Sometimes I feel like the harder you work, the more Google punishes you

Hi, nothing to worry about. Since the panda update, hammering a site with a lot of backlinks can cause your site to fall of the SERP, but this is not really a penalty. Add a couple of new contents it should comes back.

Don't worry. My site also dropped two weeks ago but I keep building links with xrumer and scrapebox. Then, two days back, the site came up with stronger position than before. If your site is completely eg: site:domain.com disappeared then your site won't come back.

Interestingly, today when I did a site:domain.com/page search, it is now showing up once again. And it's not just on my computer. I went to the Apple/Microsoft stores at my mall, and both show the site as being there. BUT, here is the weird thing. Last weekend, my hosting company completely f-d up and showed my domain as being expired for 1.5 days. Of course, those were the days when Google decided to spider my site, and so the cached version showed up as the expired version. Well the date on the cache has been updated since then, but the expired version is still showing up. Not sure what is up with that, but I am hoping that once the correct version updates, maybe I will get my rankings back again

My site that was holding good positions for 3 months has just dropped out of nowhere. Probably just a dance. (same goes with your site)

My advice: Build some quality links (not crappy blasts) and give your site some fresh content. You should see your site back up there, higher than it was before in no time.
    :D

Yeah, my plan now is just to do .edu links and use the Xrumer blasts for my pumper sites. My only concern with that is that since I have been blasting about 1500 links per day, if I stop this, will that raise a red flag?

    UPDATE

Did a site reconsideration request last week, and got a note saying no manual spam was found

    The saga continues...

No, it won't raise a flag if you top spamming, so do stop. Keep building high quality links including high pr manual blog posting and pyramids.
    Buy senukex, it's worth it.

This has happened to me before (only a portion of your site is deindexed not the entire site.)

This IS a dance and your rankings will return.
