Since Google announced that Pagerank won't be updated in the future anymore (publicly), it makes it a useless metric right? Then, I ask myself why so many sellers in the BHW Marketplace (Link Building) still hang on it so desperately? I learned many valuable things on this forum and some threads here are pure gems...but when I look on the Marketplace area.....damn! :( The "High Quality PR" approach is so outdated...it makes all those sales threads look so cheap and fake.

As for the other alternative metrics, DA/PA and CF/TF are so easy to be manipulated with spam links that I don't want to even talk about them. Isn't there a different way to market these services?

I would like to get a clear picture about this...maybe I understood it wrong.

I dont purchase any service if it does not mention TF.

Link sellers are still using PR as a selling tool because its what people know but its time we all moved on from PR.

It could be because a lot of customers aren't members and might not be up to date with current information. Many people stumble on the site through google and probably quite a few of those people are looking for "high PR links"

PR still has value in the eyes of the customers.Just take a look at namejet or any other domain auction and try to bid on a domain with the same metrics/more-less/ one with PR and one without.

    You will see the difference.

PR is still a good indicator of a domains quality at a point-in-time. If you know it was a PR5, you can investigate the links pointing at that domain, and the link losses that may have occurred, and see for yourself whether it has degraded significantly, or not.

My own experience tells me that links, once removed, do not tend to reverse the link juice that flowed through them.

    For myself - only TF.

For clients - still PR is "important"...

I agree PR winds me up, I understand that you have to talk in a language people understand but really a quick brief on metrics only takes a second or two.

Too many people discount PR. Yes the metric is outdated, but it shows at one point Google thought a site was important, and that's still worth something and still needs to be considered. All metrics like PR, TF/CF, PA/DA etc. are all imperfect pieces of the puzzle that need to be analyzed as a whole to get the bigger picture.

Yes many services will die. But I think they will find new ways like always.

I think PR still plays a role because afterall, its still there.
SEO services use it to help monetize because, from a customer's perspective, it is a lot easier to understand one metric, PR, then to understand DA/PA, TF/CF, etc.
