Quick question to the pros... Which one would be easier to rank:

    Domain 1 (page rank: 2 age: 2011)

    Domain 2 (page rank: 0 age 2010)

First of all, you need to check both domains' history to make sure that you won't buy a domain that has an irreparably spoiled reputation with Google.

Check domain's traffic in http://www.semrush.com/ - if there were some sharp traffic drops, and they were not caused by the changes in search engines' algos, that's a kind of a red flag. It could be that this domain wasn't improperly optimized or it got some sort of search engine penalty.

Second, check both domains' backlinks - perhaps these websites have tons of spammy links and that is the reason why they don't have much authority. To check domain's inbound links, you may use free http://webmeup.com/tools/backlinks.html. Also, check if domains' links are relevant to your current website topic.

Finally, you can check what domains actually looked like since the moment they were created. The service called http://archive.org/web/ will help you with that.

Only after analyzing the above mentioned factors you can make the informed decision.

People who say PR doesn't play a big role in SEO knows nothing about SEO and isn't worth listening to.

Just like they say "power is useless without control" age is useless without PR.

Pick the PR2 without any more deliberation.

    And i would rather go for PR1, age 2013 than PR0, 1960.

Don't discount domain age. My 17 year old PR1 site is a testament to that ;)

PR hasn't been updated in one year, so if the PR2 sites lost it's links it could be irrelevant. Either way, AGED sites that have PR, PA and CF/TF are easier to rank than new domains. Just posted a case study on my blog about this exact method last week.
