I own a website which is a sales page for a mobile phone related product.

I am now on page 1 of google.de for the keywords "order xxx" whereas xxx is the name of the product I am selling

However, there are hardly any visitors for my website.

So what I am asking myself is, how can I be on page 1 of google (at the moment position 7) and do not have any visitors. Do all people only look on websites that are first position on Google??

Did you use market samurai or the google keyword tool before hand to do keyword research?

how many searches does that kwd have?
from my experience about 20% of the kwd searches is the traffic you will get for top5 rankings.

so if it has 1000searches/month you should have at least 200 visitors.

have you checked your rankings with private browsing?

Check your rankings from a different browser, or with private browsing. You might not actually be number 1, because Google saves search cookies and uses them every time you search to determine what results you might like best.

Also, make sure the keyword you are going for has people searching for it. You can't have visitors if nobody is searching for your keyword.

Append &pws=0 to the google search URL. it stands for personalized web search = false

It will show you you're true ranking.

    how many exact searches/month

those 6 results above yours do they offer better content than yours, I mean if I'm searching for buy xxx and I found what I want in the first results why would I look down!

the links above me are from price comparing services, ebay auctions etc ....

Google keyword tool shows 3600 monthly searches for "product", however, NO searches for "order product". So 3600 people are searching for that product but nobody wants to buy??

Product name is searched 201000 times a month .....

Hi, that's why you don't have visitors, people want to buy but all most nobody types "order product" on google, look at it this way when you wan't to buy or search for a product do you type "order product" or just the name of product, or price of product or product review. Now try to find and rank for some related keywords to get some more traffic.

Depends on several factors... Did you do your keyword homework good? Not much fun when you are #1 with something 25 people are searching for monthly ;)

    1) Have you done a proper keyword research? Broad match, exact match and in quote? For example, sometimes broad match shows 1500 search, exact could be only 70 search/month. If this is the case you will hardly receive any visitors.

    2) Check your ranking on seoserp.com for .de. I adore that tool as it is free and very reliable for serp checking.

Based on click through rate averages, your should be getting around 3% of all clicks for that term. I would try tweaking your Title and Description tags to increase your click through rate. Also use Google Webmaster Tools to monitor your CTR (click through rate).

I also have a site similar to that.. #1 in google for a "buy" phrase and yet the traffic is practically non-existent... I suspect that the google kw tool is skewed by adsense for a lot of phrases.

basically it sounds like you are the only person doing any searches for order xxx that doesn't you wont rank for other terms if you go after them... it just means that no one is looking for it as order xxx

It's taken me quite a while to wrap my head around the common person's search habits. I search very efficiently, and as such my way of thinking isn't the common way of thinking.
