Hi All.

I have a website that I have filled with useful content and backlinked it using gigs on fiverr.

It has taken me many months to rank in the top 5, mostly settling around position 3 for a certain keyword. I'm competing with some big names.

I have been getting a decent amount of traffic from this for over 3 months.

Then all of a sudden, a guy with a one page website - no decent content - and what is basically a under construction/holding page, hurtles past me to position 1!

I checked ahrefs and he has over 3k links - mostly from Russian TLDs. I have just over 300...

Theses are my questions;

1) Has anyone got an idea of exactly how he has achieved this?

2) Is his site a churn and burn - or will it stay there?

3) I recon its time to move away from fiverr gigs and try something new. Any suggestions?

Oh - a quick shout out to everyone on BHW. It's thanks to this community I no longer fear bills being pushed through my letterbox :)

Its probably a churn and burn. It wont last long.
Just keep doing what you're doing

sape rules. it wont last long.. wait for a week and it will go off.

Sounds like sape he will crash and burn but if he's earning money he will be back.

Site is churn and burn, although from my experience, I've seen some sites last for months. Don't expect them to be around forever though.

Thanks guys - reassuring stuff :)

I am tempted to try his tactic - merely to see things from his perspective.

Should be a good educational exercise...

I would build some quality links outside of Fiverr. You are not exactly sitting on high quality links yourself. Good luck!

I think your right. I still have tons to learn.

I've been thinking about some guest posts.
What kind of high quality links do you suggest?

Well my 3rd position sits just under an Amazon entry and a large chain store. Maybe I'm not truly competing with them. Just found it crazy how someone could jump right in front of all of them within a few weeks of getting the domain name...

SAPE links (russian tld - but not always) can do that. Did he blast all the links at once or drip it out over time? This can be an indication of how long his site stays ranked for. Dripped sape sites can often stay ranked for many months. Then again, if he blasted it, and the keyword is profitable, it doesn't matter how fast he gets slapped, he will just blast another site up there.

Guest posts are a good start. You can also use some of the homepage PBN's on BHW. Remember, SPAM gets you there, quality keeps you there.

These russion links efffect is just like a shooting star. Wont last long. So, dont worry brothaa...

Russian links combined with other links sources can rank churn and burn sites for few months as well. Diversity is important.

This ^, if the guy has done it right you're in for a longer wait than some people above might have expected, although him using just Russian TLDs is retarded and likely to result in a quick burn, silly when sape is full of English TLDs he could have used to last longer, with that amount 3k and using a lot of .ru domains I'm guessing hes after some very quick boosts and profits, check if hes backing these up with many other links too.

I don't know exactly what "Russian TLD" links are.

All I can say is I have multiple blackhat sites outranking competition with a mix of high pr links and GSA spam. It's been 10 months and not 1 site has received a penalty yet.

From this test I have gathered that it is much harder to get a penalty than most people think. Because I blasted those sites very aggressively.

Russian TLD sites are sites with the Russian ".ru" domain extension? heh They are generally brokered from SAPE and similar networks, used in churn and burn types projects. Which I think this guy is going hardcore on because its retarded to use all .ru domains, but I guess he knows that if hes throwing 3k of them at the site. I wouldn't worry OP he'll not be around too long relying on just .ru domains.

Keep doing what your doing with your current site, and make another site and use his method in that one, then you have some diversity.

Thanks for all the help and pointers. Great stuff.

I will be trying some SAPE links along with some automated backlinking on another site I have in the same niche. I will also be looking to boost at least one site only with high quality guest posts.

One thing that I can confirm through some experimentation, is that mixing up and varying the links provides a much more permanent boost. I am using a SERPS tracking service for many keywords across many sites, and I have been monitoring the effectiveness of lots of Fiverr gigs. And, yes, many of them are worse than poor, sometimes causing a negative result.

But! I found combining about 4 or 5 types of link building (social bookmark, blog comments, Blog posts, web 2 profiles ect...) and also linking to more than one page on the site with varied keywords, works rather well indeed.

My point is, although there are some terrible quality gigs on Fiverr, certain combinations can provide great results for under $30.

Basically the same old advice you read time and time again. Variation is the key.

This method has served me well for a while, but thanks to you guys, I am learning new tricks all the time :)

Time to try something new...
