I was doing some research...and thought about this.

Is there a way to benefit from outside links that include typos and hence are broken?

Should a 301 redirect be created for each such link?

Would a custom 404 error page benefit from the PR of the links?

    thanks!

If the spelling mistake is in the domain name then no. if its in the filename then you should just create a page with real content at that location. IMO

You should have an optimized 404 page though for the broken links that you don't know about.
