Ok, I got screwed with one of my sites.

Ranked it #2 within 2 weeks. Apparently I picked keyword that had 10K exact searches BUT they are mainly UK searches (somehow I missed that 10K is global with only 300 local). Shot myself in the foot :)

So, while on G I am second, on co.uk I am not even near 1st page (yet?).

So, is there a way for .com to outrank co.uk competitors on UK G?

Had the same problem last month!
Just sign up to google webmaster tools and set your country to UK, should see it start take effect in 1/2 weeks.

There is no problem .com to outrank .co.uk as long as you have your .com hosted in UK. This is the MUST. Also you can point witch country you would like to target in google webmasters tools. Another tip is to make sure the whois information of the domain to be in UK as well.

    Regards

G cares for the location of the website and the content in it because wants to display results from local(country) websites. Makes more sense. This is why when you go to G UK there is a option if you would like to get results only from UK websites :)

    thank you, guys.

Ok, i deleted almost all web sites from G webmaster tool (at least all my blackhat sites) to eliminate too much attention from G to my wrong doings ;-)

So, if I add this site and set it to be "UK based", how about my other sites? I want to make sure they are not effected.

Also my "who is" is private, so probably can't do much there.

Other sites will not be effected because you can set up this for each site you verified. But if you want rank for uk then you should get uk hosting.

hm... Does it mean that if I host, for example, in India, my sites will not be well ranked in US searches?
