It's possible to outrank store pages with long articles ? i:e Amazon pages("weak" pages)

Some people say that for comercial keywords you can't rank(long term) with articles, because Google choose ecommerce for that type of keyword. It's true ?

    Well, consider user intent.

"Buy red socks" that is an action search. The user wants to take an action "buy"

Google knows this intent and shows results where you can buy red socks, buy socks, etc. Depending on how well-optimized pages are for that keyword.

What the user wouldn't expect is an info page. Such as "What are red socks" as the intent is to buy not be informed.

You can, however, outrank some commercial terms with action-info terms. "How to buy red socks". You can write a great guide that explains color, length, brand, etc.

I just Googled "How to buy red socks" 1-8 are stores for Red Socks (the baseball team) Merch and tickets, 9 is an article about how to buy red socks tickets, and 10 is a store, again.

    Home Page:
I have seen it happen where there is a clear buyer intent keyword but a relevant blog post is at least in the top 3.

But normally the answer is no - Google knows when ecom is more relevant.

Content and link building. I structure my page mock up depending upon what I think the users intent is with the KW. IE if the KW is "but xyzzy......" Then products are always at the top of the page and textual content is below, which seems to be working quite well.

This is one of the best reply. Google surely knows when Ecommerce website are more important. Not to forget, these ecommerce websites have powerful authority links pointing to it.

Meh that depends on what niche you're in. Sometimes they don't have any external links pointing at it but their internal linking is enough to rank them on top page. This is where your PBN and authority links can beat them.

This isn't new to ecommerce website. They usually build some powerful similar internet silo links, which turns out after sometimes, to become powerful and formidable.
