Guys, Lately there have been some threads where other persons' urls and video links were
posted in the thread. Posting a link to another site here as part of a question is generally
    not a good idea.

The problem arises when an idea is outed, a guy's money making site is outed, a site is seen
by Google and now G knows what they are doing to rank among other reasons.

It is just bad form to do that to others' sites.

If you want to out your own site, that is on you, but doing that to another can have a
negative effect on thier ability to earn a living or affect something that they are doing
    to test a method.

So, I suggest that we have a rule of sorts that forbids from posting a link to a site unless
it is the site owner posting the link. That could help some poor site owner out there from
    a mess on his hands.

While it is true that people's links must not be shared as it puts them at risk, it is also true things can not always be controlled.

I'm glad you posted as I saw a guy have to remove a link in his thread to another`s site. He was unaware that there could be negative repercussions for that site owner.

A rule or sticky would not hurt at all.

A rule shouldn't be needed as it's common sense to not outing anyone else.
But it seems to be no other choice..

Links are mostly outed by new members, new accounts... Sometimes it has nothing to do with common sense. As said above, I believe paid membership and strict rules would help to filter those who brings more harm to community than benefit. A lot of members would think twice before posting something

I would say to... relax .. drink glass of cold water and come back . Nothing wrong from someone posting a link (for that we have the
    Code:
     function plox )

link is not the only thing.

you can still find the site by just checking the keywords given by op of that thread.

Couldn't agree more with you man. There have been so many threads outing people's sites/keywords that it was starting to piss me off.
Outing someone's information on a public forum is dumb and dare I say, unethical. What if it was your site? Would you enjoy watching these threads outing you and your method?

Also, like the poster above me said, its not just the URL. Some people don't post the URL, instead they say something like
"hey I'm not gonna post the guy's URL because its a bad thing but man, check out the #2 result in google.co.uk for this keyword. he's got no backlinks. wow.' Are you kidding me dude? :D
