    Firstly, I'm talking about the legality of outbound deeplinks to other sites - not gaining inbound links for SEO.

    Has anyone any experience of being told to remove links for going against the terms and conditions of using a website based on the following reasons;

    1. deep-linking is not allowed - links are only allowed to the homepage
    2. linking for commercial reasons is not allowed (eg if your site is an Adsense site)

    I have only just encountered this & never thought anyone could really stop you from linking to public web pages.

    Having done a little research I have found some legal cases in Germany & Ireland...but looking for info on the UK and United Kingdom.

    Also, do you think you could get around it by using a url shortner or cloaking service on the outbound links?

    Thanks!
