Guys. We have just soft launched our website fooyuh which is only 2 days old. It is a Fiverr alternative website with gigs from $5 to $100. It has really nice design as compared to others. We have yet to do any serious advertising and promotion to draw visitors to our site except for the current plans we have in place as stated below.

    1. Got a social bookmarking service (125+) from a member here - mrxinbollywood for 125 social bookmarking service. Will be giving him the details latest by Monday to execute it.

    2. We're also planning to get a 10k PTC visitors around the world package also from a member here - ekta74 so that it may attract visitors to place gigs on our site.

For starters, our main objective is to bring in visitors to populate our website with gig listings first. Hence, we do not want to get the services of too many traffic at once when our website only have limited gigs on offer.

Do you guys think this is sufficient for us to promote our website for now? Please let us know what you'd do differently (apart from the 2 promotions we have planned above) if you were us for a cost effective method to create exponential growth and awareness to our website fast? Let's just say, our website's destiny is in your hands... :D

Ugh not another one of these.
I have one piece of advise, search the forum for your competitors and learn from their mistakes and successes.

Just did a search. Not a single thread specifically says anything in-depth about advertising and promotions, only how they fare against fiverr.

We do not care about how others fare against fiverr, but what we want to know is whether the initial method of advertising we use is good enough or more should be done? Anybody?

I think you guys don't get my point. Let me just rephrase without taking my site as comparison. Say, as the owner of Fiverr, when it was first launched, what type of advertising and promotions you think they did to enable them to gain such a large following in such a short time of around 1 year. I just want to know what would be your guesses to the methods they used for promotions. That's all.

    Thanks :)

I know it is always to be the first, mohitjmehta. But what I need to know is, if a person were to come out with the first concept for the website, what would be their INITIAL Advertising and Promotions in this time and age? What would be the most effective method to drive the traffic to their site? And that is what I want to know about Fiverr. What would be their method to drive so many people in such a short time to their website.

I think it started out as creative ideas which turn into a unique selling proposition with a combination of first mover advantage & viral marketing. Like any other ecommerce site, it has to have the critical mass in order to attract more buyers and more sellers. Usually it started of with some incentives for seller to list their gigs. Once there's a good number of gigs in the listing, it will then start to promote to buyers. The idea of getting things done for a low price of $5 was new and unique. Users started to take note and tell their friends about it and so it become free promotion or viral marketing.

Hope this answer yout question, stickyfinger :angel01:
