ORM Method: Customer Complaint – With A Twist

Anyone thinking they should do this with hotels has tunnel vision. Since you might not be in an area at the beach with 500 hotels within 10 miles, think about what types of businesses dominate your area.

For me it's restaurants, for you it could be legal offices, or car dealerships, or small stores in strip malls.

Keep thinking outside the box.

So true. We happened to test on hotels because of our area. There are hundreds or hotels within a small radius. Obviously this wouldn't work in some small town in Arkansas - everyone needs to study their local market - and just use examples such as this to help generate some ideas.

Thanks for sharing. I like the approach and hopefully I'll have a chance to try it out next year. So many great idea in BHW, sometimes I wish their was 26 hrs in a day.

One of the things I found out when I used to organize events (concerts, tours, etc) and looking for sponsors, is to know the usual marketing budget calender by industry can make a big difference in your success. Some businesses get their new budget approved lets say in January while others are in March or July.

Approaching businesses in February when their budget cycle is from July to June will most likely give you a rate of success lower than if you would have approached them lets say between June and September. Most of you probably already know that, hope it might help some.
