Let me set up the scenario and then I'll ask the money question.

The Goal - To get your new affiliate site to rank for 2-4 specific targeted keywords that dont have much competition.

Lets say you have an affiliate web site. Say its a "Nice" video opt-in landing page with several separate original article pages on the site. You've done all the keyword research, done all the on-site SEO to target your keywords, the site looks great, original content, etc.... and now its time for the off-site SEO/SEM to try get organic ranking for your targeted keywords.

Here are the most popular off-site SEO/SEM tactics

    Directory Submissions
    Social Bookmarking
    Deep Linking Social Bookmarking
    Article Marketing
    Angela & Pauls Backlinks
Angela & Pauls Backlinks & Bookmarking Backlinks
    Press Release Marketing
    Forum Posting
    Xrumer Forum Posting
    XRumer Profile Posting
Answer Site Posting (Yahoo Answers, Answerbag, etc)
    Link Wheels
    Facebook Marketing
Link Wheels and Bookmarking the Linkwheels
    Blog Comments
Hiring a High PR Blog Commenting Service
    Posting to Classifieds Sites
    SENuke
    AutoPligg

-------- Did I leave anything off the list??

    HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS..!

    What works?

    What Doesnt Work?

Examples would be nice too. I know that there are a lot of variables when doing off-site SEO and SEM stuff.

Do you have a story about what worked for you? Lets hear it...!

Do you have a story about what didnt work at all? Lets hear it...!

I thought Id put a poll on this thread as well. If you feel strongly that one of the tactics listed above works and has worked for you please VOTE. If you have any suggestions on adding an option to the poll just let me know.

Im curious which strategy will win.

    Thanks all..

I'm ranked for like 80 longtail keywords that bring my site in decent traffic. I got those positions by doing a variety of almost everything on the list. One of the key things is content though. Content was very important I paid a TON for it, but the RIO was worth it..;) OH and don't forget to deep link like hell!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Do you have a URL you can PM me that might give some details on the services you mention in your signature?

It best to do a little bit of all of them. The more diverse your links are the better.

Although my sites are wordpress sites... most of them are not blogs so no sidebar.

What I was trying to refer too when I put "Deeplinking" was creating incoming links directly to different pages of my sites not just the main URL.

All the methods on your list work fine for SEO.

SEO has not really changed dramatically as far as I am concerned.

It's pretty much the same process that still works.

    Thanks emthree -

Im beginning to see that content is king on a few of my new sites. The search engines are ranking my unique content great.... but dont even index the scraped articles I used on the same site. Duplicate content does indeed suck.

If anyone has any good "English Speaking" content providers (Writers) they can recommend that work for a reasonable price... PM me the details. I can use 10-20 unique 500 word articles. My last writer was OK but I was sick of fixing all the second language type english grammar errors.

Allot of people seem to think that blog comments are a great way to get backlinks. There's a lot of threads about blog commenting and Scrapbox. It makes me want to buy Scrapebox and spend an hour a so a day building links.

Are blog comments on the top of everyones list to get backlinks and help with organic ranking??????? Is Scrapebox a must have for any big link building campaign?

Scrapebox is a great program one of the best i've ever bought on BHW. and one of the few that actually does what exactly I bought it for. for me what's worked is using scrapebox along with all the other things that were mentioned in this thread as well as deep linking that's made a huge difference for me as I never used to deep link.

OLM75.... What did you do with SENuke? Link Wheels? I thought SENuke submits articles? Do you like your article submitter? Which one do you use?

Im going to try out a few xrumer blasts in the next few days and see how that may effect my rankings. I have a lot of newer sites so I'll do one technique on each site to see how it effects the rankings and backlinks on that site. Im going to do one blast just to create forum profiles with backlinks... And another blast to post in the forums with my link in the post. I'll let you know how it goes.

Id also like to find a forum posting product that would:
1- find forum threads by using a keyword search -
2- PR ranking the forum would be nice
3- List do follow or no follow would be nice too
4- Automatically register me for the forum.
5- Allow me to post in that thread (Manually)
6- Track my posts and allow me to go back and post again

Basically I want to find targeted forum posts, auto-register, manually post, and track.

Anyone know of such a product?
