    Hi.

Has anyone in the UK ever tried ranking a .org.uk domain when the .co.uk, .com and .net are not available?

Were the results ok? This is for a low competition keyword

I will suggest you, keep with .org.uk that's not matter any domain name but it's real leave some effect ,when you will use .com that's easy to remember everyone , I think content is king for increasing more traffic.

Assuming you're trying to rank in the UK SERPs (gxxgle.co.uk), the country TLD's like .org.uk can give a slight boost to ranking in local SERPs. For example, if creating a small affiliate site for the UK, TLD preference would be (in order): .co.uk, .org.uk, .com. Bear in mind that TLD is just one small part of the bigger SEO picture, so don't get too carried away with it.

Cheers for the answers. I will be 301 redirecting to an affiliate landing page, not my own landing page. So in essence, i will not be updating any kind of content etc.. Does google frown upon this or will it be ok?
