org.uk domains any good?

As with the .org , the original intention was to be used by organizations, not for commercial purposes. I don't think Google care much about this while ranking the websites, but as may confuse the users and it will lower the price of the website if you decide to sell it at some point, I would suggest you to find .co.uk.

a .org.uk isnt brandable unless it has the .co.uk
no real site uses .org.uk if you say your site name people will just use the .co.uk ending

Just evaluate backlinks dude...if they are top notch then go with org.uk . No problem in using org.uk for money site. I don't know why are you getting confused here ?

Op you are going to get different advice from everyone, Best see if links pointing to it worth the money your are going to spend, domain extension doesn't really matter.

The extension is only relevant if a significant portion of your traffic is manually typed in (print ads, business cards, etc). Otherwise, 99% of your traffic will be people clicking links or using bookmarks.

Though if you are not convinced about the domain, then just get a different one. Doubt that it will be some 1K RD behemoth anyway.

I would but finding a decent aged .co.uk health niche domain is not easy.

Using org.uk for a website that you intended to make money with is not such a great idea. There are more than enough people out there that will complain to your hosting that your site is not a charity or none profit website. Although there really is nothing anyone can do about it legally but I am sure your hosting provider will get pissed off from all the complaints.

Lots of people say that XYZ, OOO and other non-standard domains are terrible for SEO, but I've never had any problems with rankings or traffic compared to an equivalent COM.

I think if you are using that site as a parasite, then the intended usage is different from the rest. The local TLD would rank fairly well for local searches, and they would be given priority for local ranking, when a local UK IP is used to perform the search.
I wouldn't say that it is junk - all domains work the same these days - if it has decent backlink, then it is a good domain, and it should have the necessary authority and ranking power in the process. No harm using it as a parasite to rank easily for specific keywords.
