I hope this is the right subforum. If not go ahead and remove or delete.

This is my first post and first want to say thanks to all here. An amazing wealth of information really.

I?m a new member and new to IM. Been researching my ass off.

I?m wondering if anyone would like to share their views. If not, and would rather just tell me to F off that?s cool too.

    Anyway,

If you had ?sufficient? start up funds, experience in both IM and BH, and the time to work hard and a desire to earn meaningful to lucrative income, what would you pursue and why? What strategy? What tools would you personally purchase and apply?

As for me, I have a number of strengths applicable to this or any business, but also relevant weaknesses ? for example, I have no previous IM experience, no programming knowledge.

So far I like the idea of CPA and BH?ing the shit out of it, while at the same time applying proper risk management techniques up front.

I'm a US citizen but not living in the US now.

I know this post is a bit cryptic. I?ve left out many particulars so if you feel like chiming in feel free to use your own imagination to fill in the blanks, or ask any questions.

So? if you found a Jeanie in a lamp, so to speak, and used it along with your experience and expectations for the future, how would you begin to build your ?empire??

Put a little bit into one method, master it and then automate it when you succeed. Then turn to anther method and repeat the process, etc etc

I'm going to agree with ozzy. Take your capital and invest it in articles for a whitehat site. There is a post around here somewhere with a title How I make 15K with Adense. Follow the advice there and you should do fine.

Once you know how to do the whitehat side of things then look at BH to supplment your Whitehat income. Many people only do BH, but that is not something I've ever thought was a good idea. The main reason is with blackhat you are going to get caught, you are going to get banned, and if you do get away with something its normally only going ot last for a little while before its no longer effective. Then you have to start over. If you have a whitehat business bringing in enough income, then anything you make on the blackhat is just gravy. Be sure to keep your WH and BH totally separate. Different webhosts, different everything. People are more than welcomed to disagree, but it won't change my mind. This is a business and part of a business is good sound strategies which produce the outcomes you expect.

This advice is golden - it's so easy, especially with all the free tools, advice and methods here to run around like a kid in a sweet shop ( I suppose that's a candy store to my friends from the US) . You must concentrate on getting one thing working properly first. You can then decide whether to scale that one thing up with either automation or outsourcing, or to do something else. But first, just choose one thing and make it work.

@dynamicvb, Love the bit about keeping the WH separate from BH by using different host and all that... many people make this mistake and one of my friends just got pretty fucked as a result of shit from his BH spilling onto his WH site that was going good.

    Go with your strengths...

What do you know or have experience in that is unique to you? Something that you can do that few others can do but want to do?

I've seen people with no capital create a business from nothing. One example is starting seminars on how to pick up women. This is something the speaker had great success with, had figured out what worked and then started teaching others for a fee.

The one thing I would always take out of the equation when it comes to starting a successful business is money. The minute you start throwing money at a business or a problem you've doomed yourself to failure. The lack of money improves your chances because you have to learn how to be creative. You keep your business running lean and mean.

With money you tend to overlook problems and allow them to fester and eventually come back to haunt you at a later time. Any money you have or want to invest should be used to test the reality of whether something will work or not.

In other words if you have $5000 don't blow it in placing a full page ad in the local paper. Instead, test some classifieds, postcards, etc... to find out what works. Does the headline work, the offer, the content? Until you know what works you don't have a business.

It's only when you know what works, is when you can start automating and then you're ready to really put a business plan together.

If you have capital, then invest it in testing and finding experienced people to counsel and brainstorm with you. If you hire experienced people make sure they understand you want people to give you honest answers not simply tell you what you want to hear.

The business you choose doesn't really matter. The only thing that really matters is you testing aka learning to data mine. If you don't master the art of data mining then you make it exponentially more difficult for you to succeed and make a profit at any business.

As fun and profitable as BH can be -- remember profit is only temp. if you want more perm profit you can depend upon then WH is the way to go.

Q: what would you pursue and why?
A: Anything that has proven niche, marketability and profitability. Why? Self-evident. Why re-invent the wheel?

    Q: What strategy?
A: Identify proven niche. Study competition. See what their strength and weaknesses are. Discover what niche wants and expects. Build business plan based upon top three profitable business models for the niche taking weakness of three and transforming into strength.

Q: What tools would you personally purchase and apply?
A: Depends upon niche and how they prefer to be approached. No point in purchasing and using tools that will alienate the niche or using techniques that will mystify the niche. Each niche is unique and needs to be studied. Hire experts to brainstorm with first. Then go test the niche.

    Hope this helps....

One of my weaknesses is a serious lack of relevant IM experience. Actually I never even heard of BH until I found this site (by accident) when trying to build knowledge for a WH idea.

So I'm focusing first on improving my knowledge (both BH and WH) and looking at becoming a member of a quality group like DIM for example for some more direct assistance - though I was advised to build my knowledge base before joining (good advice also as they are not 'hand holders').

Been researching for many hours every day for about two weeks but still have much to learn. Guess you never stop learning in this or any business.

I agree that greed is something that needs to be controlled. It helps that my income goals are relatively modest; $100 / day well exceeds my initial target.

Diversity in revenue streams is also a very good point - will incorporate that into the business plan.

With enough money at my disposal I would buy a professional sports franchise and invest heavily into real estate and stop staring into this lcd screen reading about the next best thing in making money online.

Thanks man. Sounds good - control and diversification.

Thought about starting with a basic approach using AC/rewriting/eventual outsourcing and getting that going. Not very sexy I know but I'll at least be taking action doing something while determining and setting up the next approach.

And AC doesn't require much capital really, which is always cool, though for me the issue of proxy use comes into play - for multiple AC accounts and because I'm outside the US now.

So I'm looking hard into the proxy thing now; even paying for a quality elite proxy service in the beginning is something I'm strongly considering.

Whatever approaches I choose I just want to do it right, from the beginning.

Before I do anything I need to decide about things like proxy service, whether to incorporate, aggregating emails and "personas", positioning myself to get accepted by the affiliates, etc.

This is where capital will likely go first...

More great advice. Thanks for sharing.

From what I've seen here WH should be the focus or engine for long term stable revenues.

I do have some WH ideas and would like to try them out.

But to be honest I've been too focused on BH - I just get excited about doing some of these things.

I'll definitely work more educating myself on WH...

No shit! I nearly got a boner reading that thread.

    PM'd bodeezy already.

But this gets to the core of my situation - among other things I need to set myself up first to best take advantage of a powerful tool like that.

And remember to not get to greedy with it.

Research, research and more research. Then maybe join DIM, etc...

    Agreed. Thanks.

It's an important theme here - don't tackle too many things at once, don't get too spread out. Pick SOMETHING, stay focused and work it, find some success and then look to automate.

    Will do for sure.

And I will add to this that I want to set myself up properly first, before I choose a first approach.

@ grafxextreme - Thanks for taking the time to write that. Very sound advice for certain. Money is not a substitute, shortcut or offset to a weak business concept. Any capital I apply to any IM strategy hopefully will serve to support and protect.

yes, Thank you very much for the WH vs. BH debate. I have started with WH with 2 blogs and made just enough money to wet my appatite!
