'...For anyone who missed this spectacle, as I did, (Too busy working).

This is from the BBC and is edited, so is not the same as was shown on NBC, which was too long.

    Channel: BBC 1 North West
    Date: Friday 8th August 2008
    Time: 19:00pm - 19:57pm

Gabby Logan presents highlights from this afternoon's spectacular opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Did it live up to expectations as one of the greatest shows on earth? Plus a look ahead to some of the stories that are set to dominate the first few days of competition and a rundown of the athletes to watch over the next two weeks.

i saw the opening, it was quite nice. the performances were great, and the fireworks awesome too.
if you're american, watch the nbc one, as they focused on the american team quite a bit! :)

I agree with everyone here, the opening ceremonies were great from beginning to end. The money and prep time surely paid off. I give China the highest marks possible on this one.

They spent $300 million on that opening ceremony. It was unbelivable. Best opening ceremony in my eyes.

Dont think our London will compete with that lol

I saw some shots, AMAZING is the word here.

That was undoubtedly the greatest opening in not only Olympic but any other big event.

ok, so am I the only one NOT impressed by that? I mean, it cost 300 million dollars to create that show. Don't get me wrong, it was surely interesting and somewhat entertaining... but, I don't think it lived up to the "hype" of "this cost 300 million to produce, will be the best human performance ever!".

I watched it from the beginning up till about a half hour into the countries being introduced, and then got bored and turned it off.

Ok, yeah, that giant led screen they rolled out on the floor was cool... but... 300 million?

The movie "The Dark Knight" - VERY HIGHLY impressed.. even with all the hype.

Olympic Opening Ceremony - not so much.

It had damn well better...and it can afford to. We're coming over from Thailand. It is my girlfriend who wants to see them, as she's the athletic-type. I will probably just hang around Soho geting scammed or Oxford Street getting pickpocketed...lol
