Do you use blackhat methods for the majority of your income, or do you use them to supplement/start up your whitehat ventures?

The way I understand it, is that blackhat is supposed to be temporary income, usually for startup capital for something more long-term. I assumed this was true for the majority of blackhatters as well, which is why I'm surprised to see so many people complaining that they're not making money, and even squabbling over 10 dollars. I understand there are people who only do this as a hobby, but in that case they should have more realistic expectations about their net profit.

I couldn't imagine having most of my income being blackhat, and the stress that would come along with it. It just doesn't sound like a very happy life, constantly having to worry about being discovered and not being able to pay rent for the month.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here, just looking for some answers.

Yeah since blackhat is risky its more of a short term burst, you find something that works you work it until it is no longer viable and move on, you use the funds you raised quickly there to invest in long term whitehat ventures which in the long run are more profitable.

(This is how i work, I am sure there are those people who are strictly whitehat in everything and those who are strictly blackhat)

Each side has their own advantages and disadvantages so a healthy balance works best.

    Hi Sereja,

I pretty much only do BHSEO just to push my premium websites to get my income.
At the moment i am only pushing adult websites.

I have a couple of other sites too, but thats just for fun hehe.

So for me its not a quick buck, its just for getting more visitors basically.

Yeah that's what I figured, thanks guys.

One could also use the knowledge here to protect their whitehat sites against blackhat tactics, so that's another way to look at it.

Either way its much more effective to know both ends of the spectrum.

Yeah i agree with blackhat methods being only short term, but if you have enough creativity you can keep twisting them and applying them in different areas then it can be long term. The only blackhatting i do at the moment is SEO, have done ewhoring. Getting backlinks is mainly a blackhat thing imo as it involves dropping html code on sites wherever you can. It's good to know both whitehat and blackhat so you can see whats going on with the SERPS etc.
