open files with a specific program

hi guys well am sorry if i posted this in the wrong side of the forum
so my question is that can i make a specific program to always open a specific file(audio, video). In another words locking the file to the only program like(real player, vlc media player etc. Thanks

Right click on the file --> Open with --> Choose program --> Select the program from the list --> Put a check mark on "Always use this program to open this kind of file" --> Click OK....
