    something weird. I was checking some of my competitor's backlinks. right now I am focused on just the profiles. These are not forum profiles which have zero content. They are profiles that allow 500 word paragraphs.

    so let's say a page has 2 sections, ""my childhood" and "my adulthood"
    This guy wrote some bullshit in each section.

    weird thing: one section is indexed, the other is not.
    how do I know? if I google a phrase in the first section, google doesn't find anything. if I google a phrase in the second section, google finds it. and it's not a time issue, this page has been around for a long time.

    WTF?

    Maybe a section can only be viewed by logged in users?

    As you are saying this page had been around for a long time, so

    That's my opinion as well.

    There are a few different reasons this could be, iframe or JS are possible, as rankwatch said.

    It is also possible though, that he the forums are telling google directly to index only part of the profile. You can do that with googleon and googleof tags for any website. E.g.:

    Code:
    This will get indexed
    <!--googleoff: index-->

    This won't get indexed by google.

    <!--googleon: index>

    This will get indexed
