Spent ~100-150$ to try and rank 2 low competition keywords with 1-2k MS where the top results are forum threads lol.

Guess what, they are stuck in Top #3-#5 and haven't moved ever since.

Meanwhile I have other 20 articles that I didn't even touch in terms of SEO and 3 months later 1 of these 20 articles is suddenly ranking for a 2k MS keyword and for other 500 or so long tail keywords lol.

    I don't get it.

If you have a site with enough DA, internal posts can be ranked without external backlinks.

Perhaps you're just bad at SEO

I never denied it :c However I don't get it how an article with only a handful of trash links can rank for a 2k keyword + 500 long tails and bring 300 daily UV meanwhile the 2 keywords I tried to rank have 150-300 links (some low quality some decent quality) and not rank when all the keywords I try to rank have exactly the same difficulty, it's just forum threads.

Not good enough yet :l Tried adding a new 1k words article for a 1k MS keyword last week and only ranked #15-#16

What's on your homepage? If you just keep recent posts on homepage, then you are most likely getting a lot of link juice from your home page url flowing to those articles. Also, google likes new content.

yea my homepage is strictly my recent posts and guess what?

I had a little sidebar linking to the 2 articles I was trying to rank so that I'd always have some of the homepage juice to flow to them (since by now they aren't on homepage anymore thus would be receiving no juice from homepage) and they still didn't move from Top 3-5. Meanwhile the article that ranked with exactly the same difficulty, only a handful of links, all of them trash wasn't even on homepage anymore and ranked #2. 2-3 days ago I removed the 2 keyword links from the homepage's sidebar and added that article that ranked and today it jumped from #2 to #1 lol

interesting. it's possible you were triggering some over-optimization by having those there
