    Hello all,

I want to know more about online reputation management. Recently some client contacted me and asked me to do something about bad reputation of service provided by him. There are lots of bad reviews are posted on the internet about my client. After spending some time on net I found about online reputation.

    Following are my queries.

    1) Is online reputation is part of Search Engine Optimization?
    2) How to start and where to end online reputation management campaign?
    3) What will be the main tasks for online reputation?

I will be thankful to you if you will share some of your knowledge with me.

    Cheers,
    Niraj

    1. No it is part of SEM
    2. Start at the beginning, stop when the negative stuff is no longer visible enough to hurt.
#. Web property creation and SEO for these created properties.

    1) Is online reputation is part of Search Engine Optimization?

Yes. I think they're related. Most ORM companies offer the service of pushing negative content down to second or third page of a search engines results.

It is also SEO related because they will be trying to boost the positive feedback to page one as well.

    2) How to start and where to end online reputation management campaign?

I think the best place to start will vary from client to client. Where it end is kind of tricky. ORM can be a on going monthly service because negative content and reviews on web 2.0 sites can creep back up to page one if other users keep adding to them.

    3) What will be the main tasks for online reputation?

I've seen the work consist of:

-Creating and setting up accounts on review sites. Getting them ready so real customers can readily leave them a review.

-Using SEO to enhance the positive feedback's ranks while pushing down the negative

-Creating fake reviews and content that shine a positive light on the client. Which I think can work, however difficult it may be, but if you do it wrong or out source it to the wrong company it will be sevrely damaging. For example, the reviews may come off looking clearly fake and are not properly posted over the right time line.

I think ORM is really a interesting subject. I try to apply what I know for the company I work for 9-5. I think it is a seems like a easy sell and I wish I had more time to pursue it outside of my daily work.

The end of a reputation management campaign depends upon client. Some clients only want to take them off the first page, in fact 90% of the client want that only.

These days You can include RM as a part of your SEM campaigns in a sense that , You would take your clients negative reputation erased from first page as soon as it happens..

Third one is quite difficult , You need to create a lots of positive stuff and web 2.0 sites which you can rank higher than the negative things ...

    Hope it helps.

    1. in nutshell yes, I actually consider it the opposite, cause your ranking a brand name
    2. your going to have to figure this out. Keep in mind that no one can guarantee anything, unless your one of the founders of google. It's easy to sell, however watch the details of the contract.
    3. The tasks are up to you.
