My online gaming website got hit by the September HCU update and my traffic got down by 50% and it is still getting down day by day. I had more than 7k games on my website and after the AI revolution, I started writing the content using chatgpt. So there were almost 1500 games for which I wrote descriptions using chatgpt. I already rewrote the content using human writer for almost 700 games and I removed the rest of the AI content entirely. I am getting traffic down even more after the March Core Update.

I spent lots of time working on my website. I spent my time improving the UI and UX of my website, improving loading speed etc. Now what should I do to regain my website traffic?

AI is not a problem. I don't know whay people think that.

I have many AI sites and they went up :-)

I also noticed that many AI websites are ranking well. What might be the other factors of derank my website?

Nothing wrong with your website... Google prefers bigger players now, multi milion corpos and stuff... Who is in the results instead of you now?

But many smaller websites also ranking well in my niche. Search for keywords like pizza tower, geometry dash, bitlife, drive mad, flappy bird, uno online etc. you will see many low quality EMDs are ranking on good position.

I am not familiar with gaming but I can see a lot of domain matching websites, youtube, steam, wikipedia etc... Was your website about many different games? Looks like the smaller websites that left in the results are exact matching domain names.

This was the problem anything ChatGPT 4.0 has been completely wiped from SERPs since September-October 2023. This month has been the killer blow for most sites. Now this is not speculation anymore.
Transformer models of GPT are too predictable by now.

That is strange because my websites which have only AI content are actually going up :)
Are you a writer?

When you say AI, you mean GPT?
Do you see all those steps downwards? As soon as page are spotted, they are dropped and so, their related kws.

Are you a writer?
The best thing is that 99.999% of the writers are using GPT even worse than GPT itself. Currently is a complex time, difficult to manage content and see how it will eventually drop (or never rank).

Check this

Yes it is speculation. Tons of white hat sites got hit, the update is not correlated with AI content whatsoever.

I have both GPT and non GPT sites that got hit in this update. One of which was a 100% pre-GPT website which got a manual action penalty despite having been on Google discover with the same content it got manual actioned for.

"quality" content hasn't ranked for almost 2 years and won't going forward.

That's correct. It seems you are well aware of what is happening in SERP in the online gaming niche. There are lots of EMDs that are taking over the SERP, putting high-authority websites back. Mine is not EMD, it is a general online gaming website having games in different genres. Most of the EMDs are not only ranking for their main keywords, but also ranking for other highly popular keywords. What do you think - why does Google prefer those low-quality EMDs on ranking?

Are you sure GPT 4.0 content is causing the issue of SERP wipeout? Because I used GPT 4.0 to write the content.

AI is not a problem. I would think it is more about authority of your website and linking... If your website covers more topics it has to have more authority.

This is the problem
People think that non AI is quality.
Most non AI is way worse than actual AI
But GPT has been sorted already.
