My dear lasses, lads and everything in between,

I got ONE YEAR without alcohol down. I can definitely say it was pretty much one of the best decisions in my life. Cliffs:

    1. Very good sleep these days, very few nightmares.
    2. I got my ldt full :).
    3. I lost about 45 lbs.
    4. I just generally feel like a happier, more balanced person.
    5. Saved god knows how much money.
    6. Much, much lower anxiety.
    7. Better boners.

For all the people who are struggling out there, just know you can do it and the power comes from inside YOU - NOT somewhere else.

10 years for me after my best mate was killed drink driving. I was supposed to be in the car but got out early to walk home, 20 minutes later he was pronounced dead.

I was starting to have a problem so decided to give up, set a date, drank a bottle of whisky that night then I gave up alcohol for 5 years straight.
After 5 years I decided I didn't want to give it up forever and had a drink, now I drink much less and more responsibly.
Although once a year/every 18 months I will go over to the dark side and go mental and get it out of my system. Not a pretty sight but plenty of adventures.

I also had a car accident while being drunk 1.5 years ago , luckily nothing major happened but since then I don't like alcohol , bad things can happen , I prefer to die sober rather than drunk .

    Congrats master pewep !

    Congrats mate.

I'm in my 3rd year now and it was definitely life changing for the better. I can't ever see myself having another drop ever again and I feel so much better without it.
Now I'm a slave to the caffeine though, but at least my productivity is enhanced.

Good choice.. Congrats! Alcohol is a poison that could kill you before you can do something about it. Deciding to quit or drink occasionally is one of the best choices you could make. All things are allowed, as long as you don't let them dominate your life. Cheers!

Time to celebrate with a drink. :p

Nothing is wrong with occasional, repsonsible drinking, just don't make a habit out of it and that is all.

Congratulations! I know it must've been difficult at times but you've beaten the odds and stayed strong -- that's something to be extremely proud of.
