I found a niche I would like to try my hand out. Im going to test Amazon affiliate sites. So I found 6 categories of products within one bigger niche. Each of these niches can easily be their own site because of products and content potential. But, they could also be part of a larger overall site.It seems I could build one bigger authority site, but it almost seems easier to build each site seperatly, that way I could build out the content and be good to go with that site, where as with a larger site, the site would look thin if I only had one or two categories built out. What are your thoughts from a long term perspective, not a churn and burn perspective?

Having a single site could be easier to manage and could add up to the sites authority, you could do proper on page seo and internal linking which could work great to rank various pages without any backlinks, depending on your keyword competition of course. The downside being Google. Any penalties could mean you are out of business. By having different websites, you could spread out the risk.

I would prefer having one big sites with multiple niches and slowly building authority over time.

Having an authority sites does have their advantage. Some few examples,
    1. You will have to buy only 1 domain.
    2. Managing multiple sites can be a pain in the ass. I have been thorough this.
    3. You can do quality SEO on just one domain and thus reducing cost. As oppose to SEOing multiple site

The big G really doesn't like micro-niche sites now. I'd recommend one authority site, and build a strong social media presence.
