    Hi,

Something that I've always done on the majority of my sites is bolding and using italics on keywords, usually a few times an article. These could be LSI keywords, main keywords or even product names.
As far as I've known it gives a small benefit SEO wise, or at least used to and if the keywords are near affiliate links it's also a good way to grab the users attention a bit more.

Recently I read this thread from webmaster world : http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4550690.htm

What is your opinion on the topic ? Do you personally use either technique on your keywords ?
Have you done any research on the effects ?

I've been doing this and have had good success with my sites so I can't complain about a negative effect.
    Leave your opinion please

    Thanks :)

This was a hot thing probably 2 years ago for SEO. Your success rank wise is probably from LSI & product names which could be keywords too. Doing it close to links to get the scroller to see it is good to get her to stop and be within eyeball view of your link.

As for SEO? I found out soon enough this was a load of sh*t when they were spouting it. Do you think G or Y bots will really think "Oh he has lose weight fast in ital, b & underlined so he must know what he's talking about!" No.

But it does help when it makes sense.

Benefits of it are very minimal. Like someone said this was a hot a while ago, but no longer is as useful. I just don't use it on my own sites as it makes the article look stupid to the people visiting your site.

It wouldn't show that you know what you're talking about but in my opinion it helps with user experience and that's what google is about nowadays, at least accoording to them..
Helps the user realize what's important and lets them skim through the article quickly to get their answers

Yeah I'm sure the G bots are smart enough to maybe even realise what you are doing if you do this several times

Thank you, I had forgotten about over-optimization for some reason.
Modifying my sites as we speak.

If you don't over do-it, using bold is fine.
Just don't bold keywords on all pages because that's odd.

You can bold a paragraph, a phrase or anything that should capture user's attention.
Just be natural. Or fake it :)

Throw it it when it makes sense, "be careful not to bold your <keyword> too often" I dont think this has a huge effect but it would improve user experience lol..

I never bold or use any effect on my keywords. I believe it looks spammy
