On Egay's Outrageous Fees

As I'm sure most of you are aware, Egay now has an astronomical "Final Value Fee" which is a direct cut from the selling price of your items. (Including a percentage for an individual item even if you're selling hundreds in the same auction).

From the site:

Equal to or Over $1000.01
8.75% of the initial $25.00 ($2.19), plus 3.50% of the initial $25.01 - $1,000.00 ($34.12), plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance($1000.01 - closing value)

I laughed in disbelief when I saw this Anyway...

One way to get around this is simple. List your $150 BIN auctions at $10 with $140 shipping. Obviously you'll state in your auction title this total price ($150) and same in the description so people know the deal. Ebay will tax your $10 BIN price and the $140 shipping remains in your pocket.

My question is.. Has anyone gone to this extreme, and if so has egay caught wind of it and canceled your listings?

you can get away with it for a while, but they normally catch on eventually

I did not mind the ebay fees when I was able to make some money off of the postage
as well.
Since the Post Office raised the prices it sometimes costs me more than I get from the
customer.
In order to win the ebay game you just have to watch for the special days when they have a deal for postings.
Today it is 15 cents for auction listings.

they'll bust you pretty quickly for "excessive shipping''. i hate paying $300-$500 a month for ebay selling fees but its also because of those ebay fees that I make $$$ on epn.

Yea, you can get suspended for "circumventing fees" and "excessive shipping". Just wait until someone reports it. People have been trying this since ebay started.

I guess it's a matter of time then.. Hope my auction sticks long enough to unload my stuff.. Thanks for the responses.

You risk opening a huge can of worms by listing an item for $10 with the shipping at $140. With the new rules that don't allow sellers to leave negative feedback, there are quite a few stories of buyers refusing to pay shipping costs and threatening to leave the seller negative feedback if they don't drop it.

the only way you can really get away with this is to use ebay's automatic shipping calculator...

you know..where the bidder has to enter their zip code to get the shipping price.

select ups...they're the most expensive

complete bollocks.. theres plenty of legit ways to make money on ebay, thousands of niches and millions of hungry buyers..

Sadly this is too true. eBay couldn't give a shit about its sellers, all they care about are the buyers and their big corporate sellers. I use to be big into ebay, was a powerseller for years, even went to an ebay live (mostly cuz it was in vegas and I used it all as a big tax writeoff). I was making about $30k a year all from dropshipping and a few other things, part time.

My wife gave birth to our son prematurely about 9 weeks and he was in intensive care for almost 2 weeks. I shut down all my auctions but forgot about a couple items in my store. Well I sold probably 6-7 items from my store and never did a thing about them. Buyers paid through paypal, then submitted chargebacks when i never sent the items. ebay cancels my account. I log back on about a month later after all this and find out what happened. I explain it all to ebay, even said I'll show them hospital bills if they want. No good, they refused to open my account back up. My feedback at the time wasn't perfect, but was about 98.5% and I'd been selling on ebay since 1997 when ebay was just a baby. None of that mattered to them. So FUCK ebay to death. My wife still sells some stuff she designs on there and makes maybe $50 a day from it but I just refuse to deal with them and have put my time and resources elsewhere. They jack up their fees because there is nothing you can do about it.

The biggest pleasure I got out of all this was ebay canceling ebay live after it's Chicago conference when the halls were empty and barely anyone showed up. This after like 6 straight sold out conferences. Funny enough, this was right after I quit ebay and they raised their fees yet again and changed the feedback process to favor buyers.

Again. FUCK EBAY.

It's so hilarious to me that this is the advice that gets passed around. So many cry babies when they get banned from eBay and you wonder why? Sell illegal products? Fake accounts? Lol

All these posts about "eGay banned me today, what do I do wa wa wa"? I laugh so hard when they go on to say that they got banned for illegal stupid shit.

Do you like getting banned from every account you once held? Are you a better BHTR because you have been banned from the most places?

It's almost as if people wake up in the morning and try to find the quickest way to get banned from something.

A respectable member of this forum said, "We are Black Hatters, not criminals". What do you think that means? It means use your head to think outside the box. Not delibratly rip people off. Some things may be, "unethical", but that in no way means "crime". Get it?

How many successful Black Hatters in this forum spend their time getting banned from places? Not many, they probably think watching Newbs cry about this is the "Trial by Fire" and in their heads they know that one day they are going to drop these trendy newby methods and start making a real living someday.

I just thought that Escrooge do not let you put higher prices for shipping I tried for some books to make some money back from cheap listing and the form does not let you it says like shipping for this item should be no more than blah blah

I mean Books! Come on Ebay! Shall we just make a book pile and burn them? Would you prefer that?
