Omfg! Bittorent kills me!

This isnt about any virus, this isnt about any spyware or adware...this is about how my cousin lag me dead.

My cousin lives with me right so he uses bittorent more than I do. I do use it but not like 25 movies at a time after 1 AM. I think and work clearly after 12AM, dont know why but I do.

I was wondering if someone BHW can show me or even teach me how to either block just HIS bittorent without blocking mine...or somehow redirect half of his bandwidth to my ip.

I cant get anything done because Mr. Cousin DownStairs lags me dead.

Maybe you should give him a gorillamask. That would be sure to get the point across. No more downloading or you wake up with a pube beard.

Do you have dsl or what? If you knew what port he was running you could block it. I dont think it will stop it but it would slow it down a hell of a lot.

If you have a wireless router, and I'm guessing you do, then you may be able to block or limit his downloads using "restrictions". You can setup what time frames he can/can't access the net, and maybe even set a limit on his download/upload speed. Log into your router's remote IP and find out. If your router supports it, you could try dd-wrt or Tomato.

Do you have access to his computer? If so, go into his BitTorrent settings and edit his download & upload speeds and limit them. Hopefully he's not smart enough to set them back to where they were... You may also try tweaking his MTU settings to slow down his bandwidth usage.

Either that or create a fake FBI-looking document and mail it to him, telling him to stop downloading movies or face jail time (note that this is probably illegal)

In my router, there is a setting that will only allow certain MAC addresses. Set up your router to only allow your MAC and I think you will be set.

That would block him from the net completely. I'm sure he'd notice that and would complain until it was fixed. He might be better off doing something a little more covert.

as far as using his computer, not hard, as far as reading it....lets just say I cant read the chinese that is on his computer.

I may have misunderstood your post. I guess I assumed he was just piggybacking your account. Are you actually sharing, meaning both are paying?

If yes, he would definitely notice when he couldn't access the net at all. I have a neighbor who has a unsecured network with a wide open router. He is constantly complaining about his internet is slow.

Really, every body within a block of him is using his wireless account. I have told him to secure it, but he doesn't want to learn or take the time to do it.

I am waiting for the day when he is locked out of his own router.

just like they said above or you can go into the program it self and set a max bandwidth limit he might have his set on max just tone it down below yours then theres no need to block ports and stuff
