I have a blog that picked off recently. There are some old articles that are not of very high quality. Will removing them boost my site further up ? Or any other option to get beet results without deleting them ?

agree with the guy above me. If the articles rank anywhere in top 100 you may want to improve them to boost their rankings a bit more. Otherwise - if they're not even indexed in google - you can remove them

Optimize those articles with super long-tail kws in H2.
Tweak the title as well.

Removing them might help overall quality score but improving the articles is even better as you avoid 404's.

No delete the article. update the article and change the keyword and URLs. Share social media

If I were you, I'd enter their urls into SEMrush/AHRefs or some other tool to do a keyword diagnostic

Look for lower difficulty keywords with okay monthly search volume

I'll then re-optimize/retarget the old badly performing content to these lower difficulty keywords

I'll also use these keywords to interlink from my better performing content to these pages

If the topics are totally irrelevant to this date, I suggest removing it.

If not, add more fresh content to the article, re-optimise it and update it with the latest date. You could also Interlink some articles to this page to give it a boost.

Another thing you could do is write a similar new content, 301 redirect the old article to the fresh one.

let us know how it goes.

add fresh content will be right idea if its on same niche of your website. Also do the internal linking that boost other links.

You should leave the old articles and create internal links from them to important & relevant content. This is more like using them as T1 links. They'll powerup your other pages and help them rank better.

As they said above, Why not to rewrite the article by adding some fresh content?
