    Hey BHW,

I have an old Gaming Blog that's currently getting around 1,500 hits a month. I just spent a little time and redesigned the outdated homepage and threw a clickbank ad up on the sidebar just to see what it'd do.

The problem is it has a VERY high bounce rate (like 93%) and I've only put 1 article up in the past 7 or so months.

Firstly, to lower the bounce rate do I just need to post more articles or are there other things I could do?

Secondly should I throw some adense up or just leave the clickbank ad a little longer?

Lastly, should I try to start an email list?

All help is appreciated & thanks in advance

For those interested, the site is: http://www.gamerzup.com/

Haven't done much in this niche however would think that your pages would need to be really visually appealing. In order for your bounce rate to go down, you want to engage your viewers the best you can- quality visuals, good homepage design, appealing content design, feeling of community- social proof, forums, etc...

Since the gaming niche is very visual I would start by putting more time into enhancing the design and go from there :) Good luck!

That's definitely part of what I'm working on. Everyday I'm trying to go in and work on the theme little by little until I get it exactly how I want it.

Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

Why a Clickbank Ad and not some CPA offers?
Turn it into a game download/game cheats download site and put up CPA offers on it.
You could bank some good $$ with a little work on it.

its a bit of a naffy site tbh. It doesn't have a nice theme that will keep visitors on it, which contributes to your high bounce rate,
and the articles are not really consistent releases or anything,

You should use an analytics report to tell you what the most popular keywords/articles are for the site, and make a spin off from it.

For example if you have an articles on saints row, that gets the volume, get a saints row fanpage up, theme it nice, stick in a link on gamerzup.

Maybe you should go down the CPA or PPD route, the old trick where you make people believe you have a crack for a release or something. It might work out decently, I would certainly try it myself.

Im going to give you an honest opinion regarding your blog in general... Your blog is 5 stars, simple and atractive layout, but your content is spread all over... Why not organize your content by categories? For example horror/indie, FPS, RPG, MMORPG, 3D,2D, Simulation etc... It would give a more professional aspect and would be more atractive that it is, but other than that, you have a magnificent site congrats m8

It's a genuine question. Don't be a pompous asshole & if you're going to post, contribute to the topic at hand. Please & thanks.

That's definitely something I've noticed with it (regarding the spread all over content). This has been a problem for years between myself and the general gaming niche. It's definitely something I need to work on, but as far as those video articles go they're redirected to a different blog that's specifically geared towards that. It's a start at least haha. Thanks for the insight!

That's a good idea, but the problem is I want to have a legit site that has the potential to get loyal and recurring visitors.

OK then, your site looks like crap, the content is rubbish and poor quality, it does not engage and is made of thin content. There, that should help you identify your problem areas. Glad I could help.

Finally, something on topic. Thanks much for the pointers, and will do my absolute best to correct these things.

I do find it peculiar that there's a lot of sites that make big money that also look like crap. Maybe I'll get somewhere with my poor web design skills!

You can get away with poor design if the content is good. Increase the article length on your site, add more images etc.
Try to build a brand with your YT channel and your gaming site, when you upload a Video add a post to your site that expands on it.
Get somebody to design some branding for your site and channel.

Also unless your niche is Christian Gaming (is it?) then I would would remove the following from your channel as it will lose subs and viewers.
If your niche is Christian Gaming then that is fine but obviously that niche will be considerably smaller than a regular gaming channel/site.

I probably should have elaborated that 90% of the articles on there were written when I was like 11-12, thus the poor quality. I only haven't taken them down because they're getting decent traffic (though I probably should rewrite them).

& no, my content isn't exactly Christian gaming, but I do try to make it family friendly (i.e. minimal profane jokes or swearing). As for removing that out of the description, I'm not going to. It's what I believe and the type of people who have a problem with that is the type of negativity I don't want on my channel.

I was kind of thinking of turning the site into a gaming news site or something along those lines. I'm not sure yet though.

Oh, and in a non-sarcastic way, thanks for the help.

    No problem.

You don't need to take the old articles down, if they are getting traffic then keep them up. Just start adding more content to the site on a regular basis.
Add a news section, to go with the blog, tutorials and walkthroughs.

If you are keeping the religious stuff then maybe you should target the Christian Gaming niche, it will be smaller but that can be a good thing.
If you carve out that niche as your own then it might even attract others and could even get a little media attention down the road.

    Good luck
