Old abandoned blog -- Should I relaunch under new design or just start posting again?

I have a standalone wordpress website with a pretty damn good domain name that I don't want to go to waste. I simply stopped publishing/adding content to it for about 2 years now. The blog doesn't have any backlinks to it or anything, it was a brand new blog that I started barely by writing about 30 articles or so but I had not gotten to the stage where I had organic traffic coming in.

I want to relaunch this blog.

My question: Should I just start publishing articles to it again without a redesign or anything? If the website is basically unchanged for 2 years now, did google somehow put me in their shit list? THe last article posted says it was posted over 2 years ago. My question is in regards to the best SEO practice. Thanks in advance.

P.S. My experience is mostly with black hat traffic and programming rather than white hat SEO, hence the question.

You didn't followed any spamming techniques in the past...right?
If so you don't want to redesign it, but my advice is to redesign it with new design trends.

start posting on the blogs and you will not get hit by search engines.

If the domain is clean and the structure is in line with latest guidelines, then you could just carry on from where you had previously left.

You undoubtedly need to redesign it. This is the only way that the old readers are going to appreciate your return. No one wants to come back after a couple years just to find that nothing has changed. And to have 0 back links? You need to produce some really great quality content and send it to the most popular sites in your niche. Write some great posts, send them out to about 20 or so blogs (more than 20 might get you spammed), and get back links that way. And ask for guest posts because if its from someone with influence, then it weighs heavily on your pagerank. New design, new content, and becoming affiliated with other blogs in your niche is what you need to do.
