Just been looking at some stats of a site that I have had for a while now and noticed it was getting traffic for a film streaming keyword (watch X full movie).

It seemed a little strange because the film is a recent one and I have not touched the site in a while, so im not targeting this KW.

In fact, im not even targeting the movie niche!!

Further investigating shows that I am indeed ranking that page, but not for that keyword. But for a kw that I am banking with in the software downloads niche!!

The KW that it is ranking for is one of my main money makers for PPD and it is sitting a few spots under my real site.

What is even stranger is that the main title for this site does not contain my software download niches kws but just 'watch x full movie' and the description says "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt"

After searching the sites url in google, the title changes to 'x full movie' instead of my sites real title

Has anyone got a clue WTF is happening? I have checked every file on my server and the films title does not show up anywhere!!

    UPDATE:

If I search for site:mysite.com on google then it shows as 'x full movie' but if I search info:mysite.com it shows the real title

When one of my client's hired me to work on her site that has been neglected for about 4 years, I noticed that her site was ranking for keywords (movies and software keywords) on pages that were not detected through her Wordpress dashboard (there was also no way to edit them). After further investigation, I discovered that her site had been hacked and that the code was hidden in her outdated theme files and SQL database. It's possible that you're in a similar situation.

About your update, Google changes titles depending on what you search. For example, on my aforementioned client's website, if you search her name then the homepage title will be her name, but if you search her business name then the page title will be her business name. In your case, I've heard about a hack that only directs people to a malicious page on your site when they click the link through Google (directly entering the URL will display the real page), but I don't know what it's called.

Thanks mate. I have checked my sql database and theme files but have failed to find anything.

After clicking on the link via google, it just takes me to my homepage (the correct one).

As for changes in search title, the site is completely different to that niche so im unsure how it can rank for something that is not even mentioned on the site (the search that it is ranking for is completely different aswel)

I will keep looking around. thanks mate

also, the main thing that I cant understand is the fact that it ranks for

    just another strange update.

I did not find anything suspicious in any of the files or databases and everything is back to normal with that site.

However, one of my other sites is having the same problem. Only difference is, the title for this site has changed to the title of one of my other sites hosted on the same server!!

Once again, the two sites are totally unrelated and google says it cant read the robot file even though I have allowed them to

Anyone experiencing the same problem? could it be my hosts fault some how? im completely lost on this one
