Amazon should be ashamed of themselves with 24 hour cookies.

I mean half the clicks never buy within a day

    I have to rant this

I worked a lot of items in Google and getting hardly anything

That's really why I no longer promote their stuff. A 24 hour cookie is really not reasonable at all.

    To be honest Boatsy

I only really trust these affiliate people- and Clickbank partially.

I done a few top others and they got my red warning lights on.
May not be the company personally but the vendors.

    Boatsy?

Did you just call me "Boatsy"?

That's funny as hell... my alternative to Amazon is CJ and CB... I
know that a lot of people in my niches are not impulse buyers and
it really jerks my chain that I generated a sale and didn't get
    compensated for my work.

I've used amazon in the past on sites promoting individual high end products. I'd average around 400 clicks a month. Even with my sites having targeted traffic with people intending to purchase, in 2 months I only had 1 sale!

The products with a good return worth promoting tend to be items people aren't usually going to buy instantly.

Except for my autoblogs, I've taken amazon links off all my sites.

I've replaced my amazon links with adsense and making much better revenue!

amazon is more work than most imo

I guess its taken me 4 months to get to page 1 for my keyword
I have 15 of these sites but this is the best one
Last Month was first month to sell anything - sold 48 things
This month only first 10 days have sold 41 - with 7 sold today

the other sites only sell 1 thing every 2 days - but they have not received the same amount of work as this one.

this was a project to diversify away from TV Sites and so far despite taking 3-4 months to see results its working pretty well.

My problem is that Amazon is really the only viable option for most of my niches. I think Amazon partially makes up for it by giving you credit for other purchases made in that 24 hours. I love it when someone goes through my link and buys a ton of random stuff.

And don't forget, if you're going to buy something off Amazon, go through one of your links first, give yourself a nice small discount!

I use amazon for a site I launched pre-christmas period. The site during that period averaged a 10-15% conversion rate and would have earned me lots of money if managed to get to the top 3 positions a few weeks earlier than I did.
Anw the conversion rate dropped a lot to 0.1% the following months. I like amazon since it makes customers feel safe and highly likely to buy during peek seasons (because of guaranteed deliveries). I agree a longer cookie would make more sales but I believe that the only site which can offer the sort of products I sell is ebay and had no luck whatsoever getting into their affiliate program. Still I like amazon because of the way I can sent users to specific products (permalinks), even if I got to ebay you can only sent them to a search for a keyword.
Btw anyone has any tips on getting accepted to the ebay affiliate program?

    Amazon sucks, seriously.
Not only do their short-life cookies suck, but their cheques too.
I couldn't opt in for direct deposit since I'm not in the U.S.

Last month I received my first amazon cheque... it was made of some cheap quality paper.
Unlike Adsense cheques, you can tear it away from the letter easily and Adsense cheques are made of some high quality paper (thick).
But for Amazon cheques, it feels as if they are printed together with the letter... the cheque is so darn thin like toilet paper... I was so scared to actually separate the cheque from the letter because I nearly tore the whole thing.

    Damn Amazon.
Amazon better provide better incentives or rewards to their affiliates... 4-8% commission is already shitty, but with such a short-life cookie.. it's just insulting to us and our hardwork. Not to mention their cheap, poor quality cheques.

    Hey BlackSeng

    Exactly as you say.

Insulting and unfair to us working hours on end to promote products.

But I was really happy when this $125 Amazon cheque/ check
    came last month totally unexpected.

However the woman at the bank was not very hapy taking half hour to process it:D

The only reason why Amazing affiliate program sucks is that they dont need Affiliates at all. They are already making big Bucks on their own.
