    Yea it's a killer.
As they a) rely on the content and b) there is no technical way to filter that content out.

The courts are corrupt and bought by the large companies, just like the governments are also bought by the rich.
You'd normally wonder why a government says 50% of its people are criminal (as they own copied music and movies) but these days it's how the world runs. Until the system will break.

well based on the article (not sure how true) they said they can filter out malwares and shit so technically they can also filter out copyrighted material which i also find BS. How are they gonna do that? Search just based on the movie name? If that's the case, people can continue to upload by changing the name of the files/torrents. I don't get it

I say everyone donates 50 cents for every download they have taken (ill send them 20 bucks) and then they take that 600 billion and sue them for 7.16 mil and keep their site up and then buy the companies and make everything open source and then overthrow the government haha

Why not use that 20$ to get a usenet account? For warez it's vastly superior to torrents in all the ways that matter except that it's arguably harder to use (which of course explains the popularity of torrents...).

Now don't get me wrong, it's great that you'd support a site you like, but let's face it - most mininova users wouldn't so it's a doomed attempt.

Im amazed that anyone uses torrents anymore. I used to live in Hull and that was the last place I used a torrent and I have to say the experience was less than stellar. Torrents are a nightmare firstly because they are slow and the hard to find stuff will just string you along only to finish in the late stages of downloading.

Not only this but the whole thing is inherantly insecure in that anyone can find out who they are downloading from / uploading to.

I woke up one day after downloading an episode of My Name is Earl (for a computer retarded house mate)only to find I had no internet connection. I rang my ISP (Karoo, owned by Kingston Communications) and they said that they had to terminate the connection due to a copyright complaint from whoever makes Earl. In the end I only needed to sign something saying it wasn't me :))), I would never do that and that I would put security on my router.

This was the first torrent I downloaded in so long and wish I had never done it. From then on I never used another torrent and stuck to RS.com (well I was using RS.de at the time) and the like ever since.

Don't bother using it for anything copyrighted by anyone MAFIAA related otherwise you could wake up with no internet.

Without warez, there is no life for people. If only legit users of apps can survive in this virtual world, over 90% of internet users'd quit the world. RIP, Mininova :(

Usenet is soooooo slow...I only get 130kb/s on that, compared to 350kb/s on torrents.

PS: Isohunt.com ftw...but Mininova was like my #4 site behind tpb/isohunt/torrentz [just a search engine]

Private trackers aren't slow. Not even a tiny bit.

What usenet service provider were you using? Some providers cap the speeds, esp. with the cheap crappy subscriptions, but when I've used f. ex. Giganews, it's always capped my connection, which has been 5-50Mbit.

Once they take down file sharing sites, another one will pop up quickly. There's always someone else to take it's place.

I also agree that Usenext (subscription) is the site to use. For me it's very fast. I can download a 1gb file in about 10 minutes. The download speed of course depends on service provider.

And get what. 10gb worth of downloads? haha maybe a month? newsgroups are such a ripoff. I hate torrents too. Uploading servers like RS/MU are the only way to go. :tee:

I dunno...I got it in a way which probably isn't allowed to be talked about on BHW...but I'd be really interested in paying the $20 if I could get 5-50 megabytes/second.

Of course the 20$ would only be a start (unlimited is the way to go ;)), but to really get the most out of Rapidshare or Megaupload you'd need a premium account anyway. Even if you change IP's to get around the daily limit for free accounts, you'd still be speed-limited, which is no option at all when you're downloading those 1080p blu-ray rips and 360/PC ISOs. :D

That defines the point in warez, the whole object of downloading files illegaly is so you avoid paying for them. Dispite the fact TPB have made $10,000's in donations, they don't rely on their users to run their website.
