Ok guys,a week ago I took the balls in my hand (figurately of course :D) and decided to start a real business.

The guide that my business idea stands on it's " Site Crusher " .
Basically, you get clients with shitty websites and offer them a modern one for free, but make them pay for hosting.

This guide comes with a theme for your "landing page" where you explain your business and another theme wich helps you create websites for businesses.

With my twist,I haven't used site crusher's landing page but I used Profits Theme and created a sales letter with email contact on the bottom of the page.

Another twist,I haven't used site crusher's iConsult theme to create websites but what I did insteed was buying a license for Trendy Flash wich is around 60$/year.With this app I can create AWESOME flash websites in an hour or 2.

Ok,so what I did untill now?
Bought Hosting Reseller from hostgator: 20$/month (first month actually)

Bought Domain for my landing page: 10$/month

Bought a domain for my design company wich I haven't used because I changed my mind and decided to make a landing page as a sales letter insteed of a design company.

    Bought Trendy Flash license: 60$/Year

    Created the Sales Letter

Cold Calling for around 2-3 days, few calls a day.

    -------------------------------------------

So curently,I'm in a hole of around 100$

Managed to get around 6 clients that wants to see my websites

    Hired around 3 designers

Waiting for my designers to get familiar with the tool, and finish the websites.

    -------------------------------------------
How am I planning to promote?

I am curently using as a promotion method,Cold-calling.
Basically,I search on internet for businesess, then for websites, and if they don't have a website or if it sucks I call them and I make my awesome offer, wich honestly it's really awesome.

At start,to get used with cold calling and get a few clients I'm offering to create them an awesome website for free, and make them pay 1 year hosting wich is only 50$.

After I get enough clients,at least 20-30 I'll finally outsource the whole business and hire a pro cold caller to handle the clients.

To reach my goal I need to have at least 12 websites per day to create, wich isn't really hard with a pro cold caller.I just started out,and I can get around 3-4 clients a day.

    ----------------------

    What I can say?

It's hard as hell to have a real business and manage everything.I tought it was easyer, but beeing harder makes me more confident that it's willing to work.

I hated cold calling and I'm still hating it.My first calls where rubbish where i was changing the words from my script with my own ones, making mistakes and so on,but i still managed to get 2 clients from 3 calls only :D

This is actually the third day I started cold calling, and I got preatty used with it.

I also tried to promote my landing page trough adwords, got a client from 5$ adword credit invested, wich is preatty good I think! But I also think it was luck, because second day I had more clicks and impressions and no clients,so i stopped my campaign.I'm waiting to get more money to be able to invest on more competitive keywords.

Future plans? As soon as I get 20-30 clients I'm planing to hire a full time SEO expert and start offering SEO services to my clients.Wich is a lot more money then "selling" my free websites.

Another thing I want to offer them is online reputation management, but this is for future.

As I saw in site crusher guide, where the author was reading from a book " A business wich is build well from the begining can grow it's own size one million times" .One million it's a bit exagerated i think, but the rest of the affirmation is true.I don't want this business to remain on this size,I am planning to extend it as much as I can, hiring more cold callers, hiring more designers, offering other services like seo and reputation management with monthly subscription and so on.

    What do you guys think?

PS. This is the first real big thing I'm onto, and to be honest,it's not easy, curently I have no free time, busy as hell and money in minus but I know I can succeed.

I'm actually in the process of kicking off something similar. I know I can get clients as I have some pretty good local referrals in the area. What I'm struggling with is the price point. It seems that I can only justify the time spent if I charge around $25-30 a month.

However, if the contacts already have a crappy website they may only be paying $10-15 a month for hosting. The key is how to convince them to "upgrade" but still avoid having to babysit their account or get stuck with random page updates every month.

I actually want to take care and update their sites for monthly fee's but now it's not the moment. As soon as I get more clients, then I will start offering a "mantianing" service them.Beside hosting fee's,I can ask 10-20$ per month, only for maintaining,so they won't need to hire a geek to edit the flash code :D

Then some more extra money :)

@acotut Have you managed to get any clients? Also, mind posting a little about how your cold call script is? Maybe we can give you some tips :)
