Right I've got an idea but I'll sum it up as best I can and as quickly as I can.

I make a small one page site, sales letter with a product in which costs something like $47 to buy, an e book telling the customer how to make an easy $250 - 350 extra a month making money on the internet ($250 - 350 seems more believable than $1000's a month).

I make a nicely designed leaflet via photoshop and get a small printing company to print roughly anything from 100 - 1000 of them, they look legit asking how would you like to make blah blah working from home writing blogs and there is no start up fee! thanks blogger and adsense, now I then pay someone or post they leaflets myself to houses just like you get the takeaway leaflets, I might even attach a business card and another letter to it with proof of earnings, I also attach small pics of paypal verified and that we accept mastercard and visa.

I then wait to watch the money roll in a repeat.

Do you think it's possible?

Although it has been done many times before, it may work. Be sure that you have an edge over your competition. Offer a money back guarantee or include other free E-books with their purchase. Do a small test run before you print 10,000 fliers/business cards.

Yeah I will offer a 30 day back money guarantee, extra videos + ebooks, $1000's worth of tools available and excellent support, I will make the whole thing look legit and like a real company.

I will probably test it with around 350 - 500 fliers first before going for the big one.
 
i guess it will work.
What i would recommend is start marketing on the internet first get some results then go and prove to people that you have a fantastic product afterwards.
 
Instead of attaching a business card and other things why not make it part of your design? Half page flyers work better especially if they're full color.
 
It can definitely work, I've done it in the past with mid-level success. One thing to be careful about is placing flyers in peoples mailboxes. I found out the hard way that this is a bad idea. Whatever you do make sure to wedge them in tight somewhere outside of their mailbox

Why is it a bad idea to put it through their mailboxes?

Oh right, I live in the UK I don't know what it's like here but we do get a lot of junk mail and stuff so I don't know if I would get done for it or what.
 
My 2 cents

I would think you would have to look at scalability. Cause why do it unless you are able to make 1000's a day, right? Let's say you can deliver 1000 fliers a day, which I doubt because you would have to be walking real fast, so lets say 500 a day. Unless there apartments which leads to office managers calling and bitching!

Now the time it takes you to deliver them is worth something lets say 500 houses, 10 cents a house (they might be what you would have to pay someone else to do the same when you scale up) so $50 bucks there

Now the door hangers themselves, if you just buy 500 color front and back and they would have to be color (you are telling these people that you can make them money but then you have a crappy black and white flier-- no fly) Since that is such a small run, I would think the cost of that would be say 14+ cents a piece, so we are looking at $70 plus design layout, etc.

Now you are in 500 for $120 bucks . If you even come close to thinking you will get 1% to buy I think you would be way off, you might have 3, 5% maybe go to the site, and maybe, if your lucky 1-2 to buy. 2 times $47 would equal a loss..

You need to find something that would give you more money, per sale or forget this whole idea...

For example, you could create a leads sale business for home re modelers, painters, roofers and sell the leads local for 100 bucks a pop! << not sure if that would work at all, it was just an idea. I just think money making and flier delivery is not a good idea.

It has to be a need... not an idea or a want!

I agree with Fastmoney on the flyer. Sometimes they're a good idea especially if you're targeting a specific neighborhood and have a tight market. However, for what you're trying to accomplish you may look for another advertising medium.

I will disagree on the "need" part. Ideally we would all like to believe this. However the reality is that people will buy what they WANT before they'll buy what they need. We had an ice storm in my area a few years ago. It shut down the power for several weeks. You could only use cash because credit cards and checks were not being accepted for obvious reasons.

Still I saw people using their cash to buy beer, liquor, cigarettes, candy, soda, etc... They had little to no food in their baskets. They purchased these items because they WANTed them not because they needed them. They needed water. They needed real food. They needed propane gas to stay warm. Then needed blankets but no one was buying these things.

This unfortunately also goes to local businesses. They may need more business but some of them don't want to pay for leads. Never mind the quality of your leads is higher than if they had to pay an equal amount for an ad. They simply won't do business because they don't want to pay for the leads. Need more business, yes. Want to pay for more business, no. :rolleyes:

Not saying you can't sell the leads for $100 a pop. I'm suggesting that it's important for you to focus on finding those who WANT to pay for their leads. Much easier to sell to them than to sell to those who "need" to buy leads.

Just a thought....
 
whatever else you do make sure and over-deliver when it comes to your product and or service.
