Offering set packages, or only customized packages?

I'm giving a go at the method Taktical wrote a fantastic thread about.

Now, one question I was unable to find and answer to.

Currently, I have no prices or anything on my websites. No set packages or anything. I looked around at some other similar websites like mine, and some offer set packages (ex. $499 per month, for 5 keywords).

In your opinion, is it better to offer set packages? Or is it better to leave pricing open to discussion (ex. Contact us for a quote).

What are your thoughts on this guys?

From what I read in Takticals thread it is good to leave pricing off the website. Then you can give affordable pricing to small business's while ramping the prices up for big companies that can afford it.

Working at a computer distributor as my day job we only show our real prices to registered partners. And even then different partners see different prices.

If you think people need to see numbers just say packages starting from $XXX/m or something along those lines.

I don't put any pricing on my site either. Its always custom pricing. Everyone needs a different level of service and has a different budget. Some people don't feel like they are getting the best service unless they are paying 5 times what the next guy is paying. I charge accordingly.

Yeah, I agree with both of you guys. I'm going to just stick with not putting pricing on my site. Thanks!
