So there is a consulting firm in my city who found my website searching for seo im sure. They have sent me 2 clients that I have successfully sold (i have a sick close rate) worth several thousand dollars. Never even met them, yet they referred. I called them and gave them a brief thank you to try to build the relationship. I noticed they have a really "dated" looking website, and was thinking to improve the relationship to offer them a 70% discounted custom wordpress design, mobile enabled full bells and whistles. Cost for them would be $299 bucks (i def wouldn't really make any cash on this, more like $10 a hour). Would this be good relationship building plan, or would it seem to salesy?
Good but limit yourself to 10-15 website discounts, so that you're not overwhelmed and working for pennies.
Well the only discounts I am giving is for friends and partners. I would consider these guys a partner or I am trying to establish that after they sent me 2 referrals so far without ever meeting me.
I would do it for just their website. It's definitely a great way of saying thank you. And if they decide not to go with it atleast it will be a nice gesture on your part.
Yeah I thought so too, I would be doing it for a steal price, plus I really want to "solidify" the relationship so they send all their referrals to me, they are a small business consulting firm.
