off page or on page?

Both matter, but on-page SEO comes first, because Google needs clean structure, good content, and proper optimization to understand your site. After that, off-page SEO (backlinks, mentions, authority) decides how high you actually rank.

in my case i would say on page seo is the main structure and off page is too much important for the website but lets assume, you can an website with 100 high quality backlinks so definatly google crawl will be come on your website for the scan, but now your website is a trash without on page seo because google bot need a clear direction towards the website structer and internel linking way important just not off-page,

Short Answer: Both Matters, But First I Think You want to focus on on-page then move to of-page

Both matter—but in my experience, if you continue to backlink, your website impressions will increase, and if you stop backlinking, your site impressions will decrease.
So I think it's better to build backlinks for your website if you are a beginner.
 
Off-page definitely best for quick, visible results in my opinion, but long term, you want both.
 
On page may be good enough if you have a very low competition keyword/ niche but certainly for higher competition keyword you will need backlinks

But from my experience, it’s not really “on-page vs off-page.” Both work together.

On-page SEO helps Google understand and trust your content.

Off-page SEO helps Google trust your authority.


A well-optimized page with no backlinks may struggle to rank in competitive niches, while strong backlinks to a poorly optimized page also won’t perform well long term.

So usually: On-page builds the foundation, off-page drives the rankings.
