I'm building a site for a business. I've been working on the content the last few weeks and have enough to start adding it to the site. I purchased a domain a few months back that fits the business really well...partial match for a lot of keywords, short, brandable etc. Anyway, I was reading a thread earlier that mentioned something about the number of times the domain has been dropped affecting ranking so I decided to check.

It was first registered in 2001 and has been deleted 5 times since then. The last owner dropped it in 2009 so it has been a long time since it was registered. I checked archive.org to see if anything was on the domain in the past but nothing is showing up. Should I be concerned with how many times the domain has been dropped? And how big of an impact do you think this will have? Is it something I should be concerned about given that everything else about the domain is great? Thanks

as far as I am know, it really does not matter. If you give quality content, it will rank anyway! Also, spend a lot of time on SEO as it will be the key to your success.

Check the backlinks manually, if it's clean go for it.

The amount of times it has been dropped is not that much of an issue. The main thing to worry about is the backlinks and to verify they are ok.

Check backlinks at ahrefs....no issues if you don't find questionable backlinks such as viagra, pharmacy, adult, etc.
