According to http://www.kcbs.com/Odor-Across-San-Francisco/5057765, there is a new funny smell in San Francisco and it is not the sewage. In the 1906 SF earthquake, there were reports of a very strong sulfur smell that almost drove people out of their homes (source: http://trilogynet.net/Thomas_Gold/eyewit.html) 1-2 days before the earthquake happened.

Of course this could be nothing, but I wouldn't be heading to San Francisco right now, and if you live there, I think it is time for that vacation...

Just wanted to warn you guys.

edit: I'll go ahead and post the full short article:

    I don't smell anything.

I'm going to the tennis club downtown in a few so maybe I will.

I remember reading in the chronicle they just mentioned the 1906 earthquake today.

Well, I've did a little bit of digging on this. The reported smell is either a strong manure smell or a dog crap smell. Sulfur, the gas that is released before an earthquake, supposed to smell like rotten eggs. So maybe it is not sulfur, or maybe people don't know their smells.
